Mach4 General Discussion / Mach 4 DRM
« on: July 28, 2015, 09:36:21 AM »
Can I contact Newfangledsolutins and reset my PCID if I upgrade my computer.

I hate DRMs like this.

Can I run Mach3 as a backup if I also install 4?

Finished Plugins for Download / Re: A new Huanyang VFD plugin

If I enable the plugin, I get the problems I mentioned. If I then go into plugin setup and disable the plugin, Mach3 Works, and communicates fine with the VFDe. Weird! The plugin is doing something bad to my system when it's activated, and when I then deactivate the plugin, it still works, and better than it does when activated.

My Mach version is 3.043.062. Im using plugin version 1.7.1. Is it possible to download previous versions of the plugin to test?

Mach does not communicate with the VFD if I don't activate the plugin first that session.

Maybe it's not the adapter after all. I don't know. Here's a video showing the difference between having the plugin disabled, and enabled. That's the only difference between the two parts of the video. http://youtu.be/wOzXPzTsmVE

Is there a particular RS485 adapter that is recommended? I have one of those cheap black USB ones ( http://www.ebay.com/itm/331071937819?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649 ) and Mach3 runs unstable with it. I will lose steps occasionally. It gets worse with higher kernel rates. It does not happen if I disconnect the USB adapter and operate the VFD manually. I was thinking about getting a RS232-RS485 adapter instead. Is this a good one? http://www.ebay.com/itm/190380830801

Great stuff. I have the same Pendant, and have now set it up to move 0,5% when I press J-, and alternate between 20% and 100% when I press J+. :)

Ok. I'm using Mach3, BTW. So it will actually let me run faster than what I can achieve with just Mach3 and a direct LPT interface?

Sorry if I'm asking stupid questions, I didn't know what it does other than what's explained about the function in the SS manual, which didn't make sense when I read the comment in the Quantum forum. :)

Does Smoothstepper smooth the acceleration like Quantum does to eliminate the jerks? I got the impression that it did in the Quantum forum when someone said Quantum is no longer necessary now that Smoothstepper is available.

Here's a video we shot today of the plane flying with the home made propeller. View it in high quality mode for the best experience, I forgot to zoom the camera in before I handed it to my friend: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YQ95gR9yQM4

The plane has a wingspan of 185 cm and weighs 6 kg.

Here's a little video of a test flight last week. I'm testing out different control settings so it's not a smooth flight. Every time I land I change something in the tansmitter. It almost tipped over on the last flight and I had to save it. :)
