General Mach Discussion / New Baldor Drive:Slight Issue
« on: August 08, 2008, 09:24:48 AM »
Hey folks, jus got a new Baldor Servo Drive(H2 Inverter). Had break down with previous one(got old). All is well except I'm hearing an occassional down shift in the spindle speed. While cutting through some material , you can hear that down shift come n go in 2 second durations. (Trying to figure if its the actual spindle motor or the axis experiencing some sort of periodic stall). Not that worried but am wondering if its trouble around the corner.

One thing I have now , I didnt have  previous to the new install, is Mach 3 spindle speed adjustment control. Use to have only ON/Off function. Its a nice addition having  real time speed overrides @ my finger tips.
Dont think thats a contributor, just wanted to mention.

Anyway, all my knowledgable compadre's out there! If you have any suggestion's they are more than appreciated.

Thanx-A-Mill.....

General Mach Discussion / Re: Newbie questions... Lazy Cam/Mach 3
« on: July 03, 2008, 09:17:37 AM »
I know how u feel dude. I started out with Lazy Cam. But now, I use BobCAD/CAM(which is a complete design/G-Code processor). However, LazyCam definately can do the job(temporarily). Your tool, Layer&RapidHeight settings are the key to programing the  proper G-Code which then can correctly be processed into Mach 3. What u r getting is a bad case of  "G-Code-itis". The little column (usually)to the left of the project screen is very helpful in getting your shape(design) prepared for proper output into Mach 3. For instance, the CLEAN button: u should use it first, whenever u upload a shape(design) because it will straighten out any miss-guided arrow-directions or simple flaws,or other anomolies, do to transfer.  If u take a little time to learn a few of the functions and how they work, you will find that LazyCam is actually very accurate in processing G-Code and inputing it into Mach 3 .

Hope this little bit of info helps u take it further, til u jump in and bath in the pool of BbCAD/CAM(lol)!   Anyway....have a good one ....

General Mach Discussion / Re: Tool Offset

I used LCam b4 I got into BobCAD/CAM.  The thing is, when you set your tool, you have to make sure you save the peramiters set right b4 choosing the tool for a project. Then, when you choose that tool, make sure you check the peramiters  assuring the the  selected tool is the tool you're working with(ITS A LITTLE TRICKY SOMETIMES). Then,Once you are sure, hit, send to all layers. Now you are set. (note:if you are working with your first or only tool, that is considered tool 0.) Then set your Rapid Height, Cut Start and Cut Depth. Hit set all layers. Once you are sure of all the moves, then OutPost it to your cutting program(Mach3  etc...)

One other thing , if you dont want a path to be cut, delete it and outpost , only the path lines you want to cut.

If you do this and still have a problem. Your program must have a glitch!!!!!!!
In which case, contact Tech Support....

Good Luck! fellow machiner......

I try not to use the Wizards in Mach3. I think they pretty much offer a disclaimer of non-authorization. Your problem is probably starting and ending there. Try to find a program or ad-on that performs the duty you want and you should get better results!

Good Luck!!!

General Mach Discussion / LazyCam To Mach3:No Display
« on: February 11, 2008, 02:07:35 PM »
Many times, when I upload a part program into LazyCam and then output it to Mach3, the G-Code text is there but the part display doesn't appear. My table is set proper as evidenced by previous output parts being displayed and jobs being run successfully. But, other parts don't seem to show up in the disply screen.

What can I do?(or, what am I doing wrong?)

Thanx for helping me become a

Hi my friendly Forum folks. I am a CNC OPerator for my job ! Am constantly trying to learn more about the Mach3 Mill & its ad ons. Just recently got back to CNC Operation after a year or more. Prior to now, was using G-Mover. So, I am looking forward to learning from those of you who are more experienced. If there is some helpful info I can offer along the way, I will be glad to do so.

Thanx for the warm welcome!!!!!!
