General Mach Discussion / install problems video and motors
« on: May 31, 2009, 01:38:44 PM »
Thes have problably be answer 50 times but i'm not doing the right search.
please point me to the right threads

I've installed Mach3 on a new machine and have some problems i don't understand.
New machine is my desk unit, not the CNC driver unit.

video - how do i get the screen to streach to my 22"monitor.

When i run a Gcode file the software skips all motor movement ast light speed.  The asix counters don't change and long movement happen in ms.
Yes i've set speeds.  IT does not seem ot incriment the motor counters,
Single step shows the dispaly next move, but no attempted  actual movement

General Mach Discussion / USB Camera
« on: April 01, 2008, 11:50:37 AM »
In the winter 2007 editionl of "digital Machinist" theres iis artical for building a USB camera edgefinder.
that dscussion references software found on Mach3 to view the camera output.  Can someone point me to the link for that software, routine, plug-in etc. ???

LazyCam (Beta) / Lcam not re-importing drill holes from .tap file
« on: June 02, 2007, 11:38:27 AM »
Art there is still an issue with LC not doing a reverse import.
Problem is I have a part that i've done all the work on in lcam.  Including changing a lot of machine holes to a drill drill holes on a separate drill layer.  I next export it to Mach3 (.tap) and find some problem.  now comes the problem, when i bring the tap file ("Load Current mach file..")  back into LCAM it does not import the drill layer holes, completely missing.  So now i have to start over from scratch.  No i did not save the original file to "save lcam project".  don't need to do it very often and i always forget.

Am i doing somehting wrong or is there a bug.

LazyCam (Beta) / Tool offset problems
« on: February 18, 2007, 01:54:29 PM »
I have an old problem that has come back.  Downloaded mach3 and Lcam today (sunday 2/18).
Ran an old part with minor charges and sent to G-code. LC did not put G41 or G42 into the G-code file.
Is calls for a tool change but did not add the offset Gcodes.  they should be in there no matter what.
Correct.

General Mach Discussion / G81 Question
« on: December 30, 2006, 10:08:12 AM »
When I run my program i get the following errors

" R less than Z in cycle in xy plane on line #8"
here is the actula line of code
N45 G81  X0.4771  Y1.1648  Z0.5000  R0.0000  F3.00

If R specifies the up position and
Z specifies the drill position
shouldn't r be less than z with mill head going down to larger numbers  (ie 0 at the top)
did i miss a concept in my programming.

this is a rework of the post "Arc Radius and cutter radius" from about a week ago

LC - 2.0.31
Mach3 2.0.29

I need some help.  I seem to be the only one have this problems cause no one else jumped on my original post..

I had some time to work on my project this morning. I loaded up my files and started running a simulation before cutting.   I cannot get tool compensation to work.( the cutter appears over the part outline)  While watching the run on the “program run “ screen,  the tool data shows the correct tool number and assigned diameters after each tool change.  I’ve reloaded  (same ver.) Mach 3 this morning but the problem does not go away.

I had this poroblem in my original post but is disappeared ???

Any suggestions – it’s gotta be something I’m not doing right.

Lazycam suggestion.
When I repeated the simulation a second time I was left with the last tool change I made in the last run.  You might want to add a tools change at the beginning of the g-code program  (first cut) to insure the correct starting tool is loaded.

This would not let me post my dxf and gcode files (said they had already been uploaded once and kicked out the post).  See Arc Radius and cutter radius if interested.

General Mach Discussion / Arc Radius and cutter radius
« on: December 23, 2006, 08:54:21 AM »
I'm not really sure if this is related to LC, Gcode or Mach3 so i'm starting here.
I'm trying to cut an inside pocket.  Autocad readuis is set for .0625, Cutter tool diameter is .125" (tool #2).
When i get to the first inside corner (around n265) i get the following errror and cannot proced.
"tool raduius not less that acr radius with como on line number......"

I've tried setting the tool diameter to .120" but i still get the error.
do i have to reload from LC when i chage the tool size on the fly.

attached are the two files can someone tell me what i'm doing wrong.

Also I cannot really read the entire message, the line number is cut off.
suggest that you replace "less than" with "<" and "number" with "#"  in that message to complete display in the space given.

As always folks thanks in advance

LazyCam (Beta) / comments LC 2.00.031
« on: December 21, 2006, 08:19:25 AM »
I just downloaded this version, i like the new features but have a few comments.

1) I specify a tool on a layer in LC, tool change appears in Mach3 G-code but when i run the toolpath test the tool offsets don't work .
Yes i checked to see that both tools are defined in M3.

2) I created a new layer in LC and moved all my drill holes to that layer.
exported to M3.  when i imported it back in from M3 to LZ the drill layer disappeared.

3) just being picky.  When you start moving chains to a new layer the default should be whatever the last layer choice was.
EX i define a new layer for drill.  everytime i go to another hole to move to the new layer i have to scroll down and fine drill layer.
stupid me I've fat fingered the mouse and messed up a couple of time.

Your products are great keep up the good work.

LazyCam (Beta) / Mew layer for Drill chains.
« on: October 21, 2006, 09:14:29 AM »
I would like to suggest that when the "drill circle" button it used you move them to a complete new layer under the Layer control option

Several reasons.

it will let me control the order of the drill cycle and control the number of tool changes required.
It will let me have controll over different speeds, depths and drill cycle subroutines than other layer
when import an old file running on Mach3 back into LC the drill points are not brought back in.              .
