Recently purchased the New Taig 5019-CR-ER ball screw mill. My email program is an older OE and some files that were sent would not open. Would like to know the port & pins setting, etc and the motor output settings, input & output settings, that you have found satisfactory using the Mach 3 controller.  Any an all information, suggestions would be appreciated. Using XP3 with parallel port .... The Micro mill 2000 HD/LE controller...... inch settings needed for mach 3 .... 4 axes. Hope this helps!  Thank you very much! PM

General Mach Discussion / No motor running or axis movement
« on: August 04, 2012, 05:14:10 PM »
Yesterday about this time I couldn't have been more delighted. After several days of reading the files & the tutorial videos on configuring the Mach3 I was able to obtain for about 17 seconds of actual manual testing of each axis. I decided to shut down the machine and take a break. Mission was accomplished so I thought.

With much joy I started up the PC and opened Mach3 pressed tab, to see if I wasn't delusional, I tried to see if I could manually move the axis as I did before. WRONG? Somewhere I'm MISSING something possibly in  my configuration??? Not sure who produced & directed the FTP video but it was very nicely done.

Was not able to get everything so I have A few questions for the Forum if you will?? Not sure if this would be pertinent, but What would be the motor profile settings for each axis? Under ports & pin settings the input & output settings?? What is to be enable. There is some conflict in the mach3 tutorial, if all, none, are to be enabled, etc. Not sure how important this is, as I've tried to make settings on what I thought I read and what I saw.

Again I appreciate the input. Wish I had move of an update to share. Thank you very much!  PS

Greetings folks - First CNC adventure starting with the new Taig. I even got latest version of Mach3 installed. Using XP! At this time, Would just like to know how to configure the right screen settings in Mach3 so that I can test & Jog/ RUN each axis individually. This is the outstanding Taig Microproto 2000 mill with the stepper system. 4 axis system. If this makes any difference I have the parallel port connected to the PC. X Y & Z axis are connected to the Driver Box that is not turn on when system is started.  A axis port is not connected.

I have read the instructions different times but being that I have no previous experience with the jargon,  settings, configurations, etc. I've lost my way. So I decided to present this to the Forum, which is also new to me, to see if there may be somebody who is willing to take the time to explain how all this is to come about or just tell me where to go.

Appreciate your patience & understanding concerning this matter. Looking forward to what input, suggestions, & assistance that the Forum has to offer this senior citizen.  :)

General Mach Discussion / Mach3 on Sherline
« on: November 24, 2007, 09:41:18 PM »
Just getting started with CNC. My name is Pete from Pa. Retired & tired most of the time. Still do some jewelry repairs, lapidary, fabrication, faceting, casting & mold making. For the most part self taught, and currently enrolled in the School of Hard Knocks.

Currently have a Sherline CNC Setup, that is looking for a cost effective 3dcad/cam jewelry software. At the present time I have not installed BDI-EMC or Windows. Not sure what would be the best way to go as far as Cad/Cam software solutions.

Came across the Artsoft Forum Family & The MACH 3 software.  Would like to go with Mach 3 or 4 but I'm not sure if it will run the Sherline. Has any of our group run the Mach3 successfully on the Sherline and if so what is required??

The Sherline CNC Setup that I have is complete, and has 4 axis capibility. Have considered installing the BDI-EMC OS and/or Windows XP on the PC, or a Dual Boot System. I don't believe the Linux will run MACH3. I presume the Windows XP, 2000, or Vista would take care of the running of Mach3??  Maybe even 98 or 98SE?? Just a thought.

At this time would like to know if there is anyone here that runs Mach3 on the Sherline and how you were able to do it?  MACH 3 has been a suggested Cad design program for jewelry. Your assistance concerning this matter would be very much appreciated. Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts & ideas iin this area. Will be looking forward to hearing from Our Mach Team!

Kindest Regards,
Pete from Pa (USA)
