NC Pod / what version of Mach3 do I need
« on: October 31, 2007, 05:33:15 PM »
Can someone (if there is anyone out there) please tell me what version of Mach3 I need, what plugin version and what firmware version I need presently to get my servo system running, at least just a little.  Ports and pins numbers?  I can pay you for 50 bucks for enough information to get things working!

As you can tell I'm getting desperate.  I don't even care if I can't do homing etc.  Just want to move an axis or two, or even get my dro to show a jog move,...SOMETHING!  Sorry for sounding upset about things.  It just gets to you after a while.  There's precious little information to go on.

Sincerely,

Frank

NC Pod / probably something simple
« on: October 28, 2007, 10:31:08 PM »
I just installed Mach3 for use with an ncpod/g320 servo system.  The problem is that I can not even run a simple program or make the jog buttons change the dro readings, let alone get mach to talk to  the ncpod.  I presently run an extremely simple to use program called Deskcnc on my small mill, but was willing to sacrifice some simplicity for features and try Mach3/ncpod for my bigger mill.   I sure hope someone can give me some clues as to what is going on with Mach3, so that I can move on to the task of trying to get it to talk to the ncpod (something I'm already cringing at).

My servo motors/encoders are all set up with the drivers and holding strongly just waiting for a step and direction command.  I'm guessing and hoping that it is a silly little thing that I'm not doing which is causing the problem.  I'm really more into the mechanical aspect of machine building and machining, than electronics and software.  Although, a few years back I actually did have Mach1 working with stepper motors, but was dissapointed with the lack of smoothness, something that the ncpod should take care of.

Can anyone give me some possabilities to check out in Mach3 to at least get the software to run a program.  I'm using windows xp on a fast Athlon computer.

Frank
