General Mach Discussion / My Z Axis dived into my spoilboard...
« on: October 31, 2021, 08:12:43 PM »
I've used Mach3 with Artcam for years, and recently changed to using Vectric software.   When I tried my first file on my Mach3 machine using Vectric file and Mach3 Arc/In post processor, the Z axis drilled right into the spoilboard and was headed for China.  I hit EStop to stop it.

I don't think I have made any config changes in Mach3,  so I expect something in my file or post is incorrect.   Here are the first several lines:

Can some one tell me if there is something in the GCode setup that might cause this diving?   If not, what settings can I check to see what's going on?
Thank you!

General Mach Discussion / Lurching on Mach3 reset
« on: February 18, 2021, 03:23:00 PM »
Hi
My issue is this-  when my VFD is on and spindle is turning, and Mach 3 is engaged (that is, I can move all axis via keyboard controls)-  in this condition when I click 'RESET' the axis lurch several inches.   I know that both x and y lurch, but I have not confirmed that z axis also moves, although I suspect this is true as well.

Also, when Mach3 is disengaged and I cannot move the axis via keyboard, and then I click 'RESET' to engage I do not get any lurching.

I suspected a grounding issue, so I checked continuity with a meter.   All these points are grounded to a common point, and showed continuity to that point:

Spindle
X, Y, and Z axis
Computer and power backup
Ascension controller (Gecko 202 drivers)
VFD

Is there a setting in the VFD or in Mach that can cause this?  What issues should I be looking for here?

Thank you!
