Tangent Corner / Thanks Thanks Thanks from an Aussie
« on: June 26, 2006, 04:51:55 AM »
I just want to say thanks Brian, and others for making this a fantastic forum, or as we would say "good on ya mate"
I have a business in Australia converting station wagons into single cab, extra cab, and dual cab utes www.creativeconversions.com.au
I am 60 years young and untill about 2 years ago I thought a computer was for people who couldn't do real work (we tend to be a bit like that in Aus.)
My kids finally talked me into doing a starter course in computers and I was hooked (I now use 2 fingers to type).
I stumbled across this forum about 3 months ago and downloaded a Mack 3 program. I am trully amazed at how quick I was able to understand it with the help of this site and Art.
I am about to start building a plasma table using a Logitrol Controller and servo motors
I feel 20 years younger and my business will benifit greatly
The reason I'm sending this message is just to say Thankyou, Thankyou, Thankyou

General Mach Discussion / Problems with getting Mach 2 going properly
« on: June 21, 2006, 04:47:35 AM »
I am trying to set up Mach 2 (4.0) for use as a plasma cutter with just X and Y axis
I have a controller (Logitrol) and motors hooked up (no machine yet)
In the config boxes I have only X and Y ticked and the motors set at 2,000 revs and approx 80% accelleration
When I load a DXF file I have the feedrate set at 3,000, and zero in all the other colloums
After is has been converted to G Code I notice there is some Z references. Is this normal or is it something I havn,t done in the config.?
Also I have noticed if I change the feedrate up to say 6,000 it takes the same amount of time following the tool path as when it was set at 3,000
All the guides I have found only relate to Mach 2 (6.0) or Mach 3 and I have to use the earlier version according to Logitrol
Its driving me nuts, can anyone help

General Mach Discussion / Plasma cutting only
« on: May 04, 2006, 07:42:30 AM »
Doese anyone have a wizard and screen set up solely for an XY table suitable for plasma cutting
It seems to me the standard Mach 2 screen is an overkill for my purpose
I'm new to this technology so I need some help before my brain explodes
