General Mach Discussion / Program A axis to rotate as a Spindle
« on: June 10, 2011, 03:57:02 PM »
hello Jacob
i had a problem like the one you describe while threading. my fix was to drop the speed
from 500 rpm to 100 rpm, i'm sure the computer i am using just can't keep up.

                           just a thought, Mick.

Dave,
just noticed that the A axis dro's are being updated with Z axis co-ords on the path screen,
the gcode prog i was running only uses x,y,z .

        MSM rel 10
        mach3 ver  43.022.
By the way the A axis does'nt move only the dro's
                                                                             rgds Mick.

General Mach Discussion / g95 problem when parting off
« on: April 29, 2010, 12:47:21 PM »
hello all,
my question, is it possible to alter the feedrate dro to accept 3 decimal places.because when useing g95 with g20
the minimum feed rate per rev is .010 and this is to heavy for my small lathe.
i do use g21 sometimes in which case .05 is ok, but it does confuse my old head, and have just wrecked a part .

                                                                                              thanks mick.

SmoothStepper USB / Problem getting clean index pulse
« on: March 22, 2009, 02:14:22 PM »
Hello all,
My lathe is servo driven, for the past six months useing the p/p, all was well until three days ago i connected a s/stepper i've
           had for about nine months.
The problem is the index pulse is all to cock now, looking at the trace in spindle/config where there used to be square wave,
now it shows confused spikes about three times higher than the square wave, swapping back to the p/p every thing ok.

Can you please help cure this problem as threading is impossible.

           Useing the latest Mach3 & s/s plugin.
                                                                   thanks mick.

General Mach Discussion / Problem with pp port ?
« on: September 22, 2008, 01:47:40 PM »
Hello all,
The problem i have is getting mach to output 0-5volts on pin14 to control the anolog speed control which is 0-10v.
            In ports & pins /spindle :-step pin 14, dir 8, port 1,
            In motor tuning/spindle :-steps per 1000 , velocity 1500, pulse 3.
            Spindle pullys:-Max speed set 1220 ,ratio 1:1

With the command m3s1220 the voltage on pin 14 changes from  .08volts to .25volts. however if pin14 is setup as dir pin
on either z or x the voltage swings from .08v to 4.4v .

tried deleteing the xml,s and re-installing mach, but still no joy .

             help please,
                               rgds mick.

General Mach Discussion / Mach3 turn not showing tool number
« on: October 14, 2007, 10:07:04 AM »
Hello everyone,
i have been trying to write a little vb script ,but the tool number is not displayed, the gcode stops and waits
at M6 Txx for cyclestart.

using :   tool= getselectedtool()    allways shows zero.

This is not so in Mach3 mill.

HELP please.                           thanks
                                                      mick.

General Mach Discussion / diameter of indexing disc
« on: October 04, 2007, 02:29:21 PM »
hello to all,
just a quick question, does the diameter of the disc used for indexing affect the accuracy when threading.

                                                                        thanks mick.

General Mach Discussion / loosing steps in one direction
« on: August 06, 2007, 12:43:36 PM »
hello to all,
i have a small 4 axis mill x@y recentley fitted with 16mm *5mm ball screws and angular contact bearings ,driven by 320oz steppers through a cnc4pc g11 bob and arcuro drivers, after cycling each axis 50 times 0 to 127 to 0 the error is about .150" dti.
no combination of acc @ vel seems to improve on this, gen/config/step pulse(5),dir (5).
drives have been swopped with other motors, tried  sherline mode  but the problem is still there.
                                       thankfull for any suggestions,    mick.
