General Mach Discussion / Mach3 Breakout Board Inputs
« on: February 07, 2019, 08:15:28 AM »
I have a Mach3 PCI breakout board. Am trying to configure my limit switches to 3 of the 5 input pins available(10,11,12,13,15).
So my configuration is as follows:
X Axis Limit switch: port 1 pin 15
Y Axis Limit switch: port 1 pin 13
Z Axis Limit switch: port 1 pin 12

The x and y axis limit switches do trigger the interrupt on the software but the z axis does not. Have verified that the limit switch works fine. In fact when I put the z axis signal into the x axis pin, it does trigger the interrupt. I feel that there is some error in the port and pin configuration for the z axis. Any help in this regard is much appreciated.

Thank You

General Mach Discussion / Problem with stepper motor
« on: January 28, 2019, 12:22:40 AM »
I have a 3 axis CNC.

There is a problem running only the X-axis motor. It sometimes misses rotation and in that miss there is a noise coming from within the motor which sounds like gears grinding against each other. At other times it just completely stops while running, with the same background noise coming from the motor.

Peculiarly it happens at only 2 spots along the X-axis. Y and Z axis run fine. Redid my wiring as earlier it was messy and I thought that some noise might be interfering with the signal wires going to the motor driver, but that did not help.

Any help is much appreciated.

General Mach Discussion / Motor Driver issue
« on: October 04, 2018, 11:52:44 AM »
I have a PCI port mach3. Whenever i run the code, first of all none of the motors run. Secondly I notice that the pulse pin and Dir pin on the motor driver appear to be shorted(continuous).
To verify i even tried to run the circuit with an arduino. When i upload the code now, still the pulse and dir pins appear continuous. However when i remove the connections and then try to test it, they are no longer continuous.
Pretty sure there is something really basic that i am missing out. Can you please help out.

P.S. attached figure shows connections followed

General Mach Discussion / Pul and Dir pins short
« on: September 12, 2018, 06:48:51 AM »
Hello

I have a USB mach3 board. Recently I have started facing the issue, that the Pul and Dir pins for the X, Y and Z axis are short on the board. Also the A axis pins are not short. Is this how it is supposed to be or is my board messed up.

Note: I am only using the X, Y and Z axis for my CNC

Thank You

General Mach Discussion / Mach3 USB Homing
« on: August 31, 2018, 06:42:21 AM »
Hello

I have a Mach3 USB board as in the attached picture.
I'm having trouble getting the 3 axis back to their home position. I started with just the x- axis. Home position is indicated by active low limit switches. The signal wire from the limit switch was fed into Input pin 3. Can you please help me with the pin and port configuration for this, or if there is something else that needs to be done as well, please do let me know.

Thank You
