Galil / Mach 3 Galil to Mach 4 Galil
« on: May 25, 2018, 10:30:47 AM »
Hi I have a DMC 4080 that I have been using for a while with Mach 3 and the Galil Plugin with steppers.

I am now trying to migrate to Mach 4 and the new Galil plugin with the same steppers and limit set up on x, y and z (using same plugs and wiring into the 4080)

However, I cant seem to get the motors moving at all with Mach 4 /Galil Plugin (both are licensed and using xp)

I keep getting Galil 20 Begin not valid with motor off error come up both with and without mapping the limit switches.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Galil / Galil and Mach 4 Plugin - Probe Connection
« on: May 14, 2018, 07:24:37 AM »
Hi I have decided to update my BP series 1 CNC to mach4 using the galil plugin to a DMC4080 via steppers. Using the following setup works fine.

My current motor connections are A, B and C using External Driver Connections (A to D) STPA DIRA; STPB  DIRB; STPC, DIRC   i.e. Pins: 16, 19, 31, 34, 2, 5

With limit switches and home switches using I/O (A-D) Connections FLSA,  FLSB, FLSC; RLSA RLSB, RLSC; HOMA HOMB HOMC.   i.e. Pins: 36, 37, 38, 22, 23, 24, 7, 8,9

I am now looking to install an external probe onto the machines x Axis.  After reading the install PDF I am a little confused as to how to wire the probe up to the "Galil high speed position latch functions".

Am I correct in thinking that the Galil high speed position latch functions pins are pins 1, 2, 3 on the I/O (A-D) Connector?

Or do they refer to DI1, DI2, DI3 on the I/O (A-D) Connector?

I think the latter is correct any assistance greatly appreciated.

Modbus / Communication With Modbus Multiturn Absolute Encoders
« on: May 08, 2018, 12:08:34 PM »
Hi, just wondering if anyone has tried using the modbus interface to communicate with modbus based absolute encoders?   Just added a fourth axis to my Bridgeport and it would be nice to use an absolute encoder on it.
Thanks
Barry
