Mach3 under Vista / Another newbie hoping for a miracle answer
« on: April 17, 2018, 04:21:18 PM »
Our woodworking club has a donated Chinazone 6040 cnc router.  I volunteered to get it running but have had nothing but computer problems.  The 1st computer died just as we got close to making it work.  Another computer was donated running windows 7 home.  A computer "guru" installed a parallel port card (PCI Express?).  So far all it has done is lock up the cnc router.  I ran the driver test program and it says the port is now under mach3 control.  However, the computer can't even jog the router.  The interesting part is that when we turn off the computer, and test the manual spindle control, the gantry also moves slowly in the y direction.  When the cable is disconnected from the computer, the manual spindle control doesn't move the gantry.

Additional info that may or not be useful:  device manager says the driver is Oxford semiconductor version 1.0.0.5.  Also, when I first ran mach3, there was an error message telling me to run in compatibility mode.

Questions:  is there a driver conflict?  Parallel port card incompatible with mach3?

I'm desperate.  I've been fighting this since December!
