General Mach Discussion / How do I use new digiitizing plugin?
« on: September 23, 2006, 03:25:15 PM »
I looked for documentation on usinng plugins, if my question iis answered in place that i missed then point me to the answer rather than answering my post

I installed mach3V RC2.0b
I downloaded probing plugin V3.0
I think I installed it with the plugin installer, I recieved an message that it was installed.

I have opened the "config plugins" and selected "Enable"
when I click "config" I get a message that I should select "3d probinng from menu"
which "menu" and what do i do after that

Is the plugin used inside of a wizard? I am unclear on this wholle concept of plugins
....what do i do next?

thanks

Are there any other learning resources available? ( manual, wiki, help file)?

The manual has an example of using a probe to find the centre and diameter of a hole (section 10.7.12.3).
It stores the value for the calculated average diameter in paramater #1034

How to I know what the value is, after the program has run?
....
N320 #1034=[[#1014 + #1024] / 2.0] (find average hole diameter)

G-Code, CAD, and CAM discussions / G31 again
« on: July 15, 2006, 03:53:02 PM »
I have trouble using G31. I am new to all this.

When I type into the MDI screen G31 Z0-.1, nothing happens.

I tried the probe wizard ( the one by Art) and the program runs except that at the G31 lines almost nothing happens, the program just goes to the next line of g-code most of the time. On the occasional G31 instruction it seems that the Z backlash is taken up. This happens even when probe depths of .1" are input.

I have verified in the Diagnostics screen that the probe is seen by the program ( the LED blinks when I trip the probe with my hand)
This happens with the probe active high and active low
Version 1.84.001 and 1.90.053

Am I missing something?
Thanks

General Mach Discussion / MaxNC and backlash
« on: April 26, 2006, 06:59:50 PM »
I am trying to set up and old MaxNC10 board ( it is from the year 1999, not one of the 1018A/B boards mentioned in a help documant I read) with Mach3.
I haven't got backlash compensation to work yet, just delays/pauses in code excecution.

I have read some posts about Mach3 not compensating for backlash in wave mode.

Can someone confirm this?
Is there any mods to the board that can be done?
Thanks

General Mach Discussion / Optimisation procedure on install of Mach3
« on: April 19, 2006, 07:31:53 PM »
I am doing a clean install of XP on a PC dedicated to my CNC
I am doing the optimisation procedure from the file called "optimisation%20XP"

I have a few questions:
1- I have set " Remote procedure call (RPC)" to automatic as instructed
my question is:
"Remote procedure call (RPC) Locator" should that be disabled?
( I know nothing about these things, but is seems to me, based on their description, that they should be set the same.

2-  I tried to update windoes as the optimsation file instructed. The windows site said that I should set " Automatic Updates" to Auto and also set "BITS" to manual., I did and then did my updates ( none were required)

my question is:
Do I leave the two settings as is, or put them back as per the optimisation file?
3-  will I be able to get onto my network? I would only plug in the cat5 cable when I want to get onto my home lan for updates etc.

thanks
