General Mach Discussion / Engrave/V-Carve Toolpaths overcutting corners
« on: February 04, 2019, 08:53:24 PM »
Hi All I am running a CNCRouterparts 5x10, it's my second cnc router. I am trying to do an engrave toolpath inside a square with a 1/2" 60 degree V-bit but when the bit comes to do the corner pass where it drags up to square the corner it is slightly over cutting the corner which gives me a little flare on the profile. I have tried slowing the feeds, zeroing on top and at the bottom of the wprkpiece, lowering the acceleration curves of the motors, playing with CV on/off and different CV angles as well as outputting g-code from Fusion360 and Vectric. The F360 files were slightly less pronounced but still happened. Does anyone know what might be causing this? I am at a loss.

General Mach Discussion / royaumedeole VFD plug in with Windows 10?
« on: January 10, 2019, 07:55:53 PM »
Hi has anyone used the royaumedeole VFD plug in under Windows 10? Did you need to do anything special to get it working?

Thanks

Luke

General Mach Discussion / Stepper suddenly losing power.
« on: May 22, 2018, 10:03:06 AM »
Hi Folks, I have a parallel port based CNC router, with slaved Y and A outputs running the gantry. I had a crash a couple of weeks ago and I am now experiencing occasional loss of power to my Y axis motor, this is bigger than a few lost steps. I will be in the middle of a cut and the motor will stop and the gantry will twist out of square and I have to e-stop and power down and then everything will work again for a while. I am wondering if the motor or driver could have been damaged by the crash or if anyone has any other ideas as to what might be causing the problem. Motors have been running flawlessly for a year previous to this.

General Mach Discussion / Switch between wall plug and VFD?
« on: January 15, 2018, 08:32:55 PM »
Hi I have just received my replacement HY VFD for my 2.2kw spindle and I am looking at the manual and it says:

"No contactor should be installed between the power supply and the the inverter to be used for starting or stopping of the inverter. Otherwise it will affect the service life of the inverter."

I have a 220v switch between the plug and the VFD and have been using that to switch the VFD on and off but now I am wondering if that is how my first VFD got burned out. Can any of the VFD experts out there confirm this? Should I be plugging and unplugging the VFD every time? Would moving the switch between the plug and the panel make a difference?

Thanks

General Mach Discussion / HY VFD sparks and wont turn on... replacement?
« on: January 03, 2018, 01:31:17 PM »
Hi Folks I went to turn on my HY 2.2kw VFD this morning and it threw sparks out the bottom and wont turn on, I am assuming it is blown but open to other ideas (help!)
It is one of these:

https://www.ebay.ca/itm/CNC-80MM-ER20-2-2KW-WATER-COOLED-MOTOR-SPINDLE-AND-DRIVE-INVERTER-VFD-FOR-CNC-HY/262023137513?hash=item3d01cbc8e9:g:0A8AAOSwfVhaRbvk

I am wondering if this Hitachi will work with my spindle as replacement:

Any help greatly appreciated.

Hi there I am having a problem where I am trying to cut out a test joint for a piece of furniture and I am consistently getting extra material left over on all sides. The attached pic shows a 100x100mm piece with a 18.2mm slot cut in it to slip fit a piece of plywood. I am getting a 100.6mmx100.6mm piece with a 17.6mm slot cut in it... way too tight for 18mm ply. It looks like I am getting an extra .3mm left on all sides. I am generating my code from fusion360 and cutting with a 6.35mm compression bit, generally my machine has been pretty accurate (Linear bearings and 1616 Ballscrews.) Backlash compensation is off.

Things I have tried so far:
-Restarting everything
-Turning CV mode off
-Re-calibrating the x and y axis using the calibration tool on the settings page. Calibration settings were fine.
-Making the part in Vectric (Was slightly worse 17.2mm slot)

Thanks!

Hi, I have searched a lot for some sort of answer to this but haven't found any solutions yet. When I use RefCombination in my RefAllHome script it refs the axis's but I have to hit the reset button after to get mach to do anything else. I have tried various combinations of RefCombination and DoButton on three different computers with the same results. What I am wanting is to do:

Refcombination(15) 'Ref all 4 axis simultaneously'
Code "G28"

but mach won't run the G28 and I have to reset before any other macros (eg auto zero) will work.

If I use DoButton for each axis the G28 at the end runs fine.

I have tried in both the 1024 and 2010 screensets with the same results

Any help is greatly appreciated.
