General Mach Discussion / Feed rate accelerating/decelerating question.
« on: February 05, 2020, 10:27:37 AM »
Is there a way in Mach3 to accelerate/decelerate the feed on a single axis from point A to point B?
Example; x10 to x 100 with a starting feed of,say, 30ipm and a final feed of 5ipm.

Thanks,

I'm trying to get Mach to operate the on-board relays of the C23 BOB to be used to for run and direction control on my VFD.

I M3 and M4 commands assigned to output 1 and 2 in spindle setup and the 'disable relay' box is unchecked.  Output 1 is assigned port 1-pin 16, output 2 is port 1-pin 1 as directed by CNC4PC documents.

I cannot get the relays to switch.  I've been checking by measuring the ohms of the terminals.

I'm at a loss here...as I have been a few times already.  I'm ready to shovel all these magic boxes into my mill once this is solved.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

General Mach Discussion / Mach setup for C23 BOB relays

I'm setting up my C23 BOB controlled by Mach to operate the 0-10v analog output which will control the speed of my VFD...and it does.  The problem is I cannot get the analog output to produce over about 6.5v.  I can control the VFD but, through higher mathematics, I can only realize 65% of my max speed as evidenced by the frequency display (of about 75Hz) on the VFD.  I've messed with the spindle motor tuning every which way to no avail.

Yes, I do have 12v  feeding the analog system.

Any thoughts?

Cheers!

SmoothStepper USB / USB SS output voltage
« on: March 12, 2016, 12:53:26 PM »
I have a USB SS plugged into a CNC4PC C23 board.  It has never been hooked up to any devise.  I found that everything on the C23 works EXCEPT for the X axis step (pin 1 output) while inputting manually through Mach3 or the direction keys on the keyboard.  I finally sent the C23 back to CNC4PC and just got it back.  I haven't heard back from Arturo yet whether a fault was found or not but I am getting the same symptoms as before.

I have pin 1 port 1 assigned to the X step.  Measuring the voltage on the SS pin 1 delivers 0.87v  while the step pins for Y and X axis deliver 1.125v.

My question;  what is the output voltage of the SS supposed to be and could this be the issue with the X step not functioning?

Are my pin assignments incorrect?

I exchanged quite a few emails with Arturo before sending the C23 back for him to test.

Thanks for any insight.

General Mach Discussion / Building a new PC
« on: September 29, 2011, 11:51:24 AM »
I'm looking for some advice.  The PC I've been using to run Mach3 and my mill has died an I want to build a new one.  I'm not current with today's computers.  The one that died I built 10 years ago.

Does anyone have a good 'shopping list' to build a dedicated PC for Mach3?

General Mach Discussion / Machine gone stupid...
« on: December 26, 2009, 03:21:43 PM »
I have a Mikini 1610L run on Mach3.  I've used it to produce some trail markers in the not so distant past and it worked beautifully (as far as my inexperience can tell).  I just fired it up to tinker with some new ideas and this is what happened;  The computer bobbled a few times while attempting boot and/or  got hung up just after to the point I needed to unplug its power cord and reboot.  The issue I have now is that my Z axis (mostly) gets lost.  A simple G0 Z1 will result in a Z of 0.857 (usually).  G0 Z0 does not usually bring it back to zero either... usually 0.14xx or such.  It also tends to over run when lowering.  I have a nice bit of bronze with several stab wounds and snapped bits.

Now,  is this likely the computer in its death throws or is Mach hung over from the Christmas party?  I'm close to introducing the computer to my M14  ;D

Thanks for any insight!

General Mach Discussion / Machine profile into Mach?
« on: April 20, 2009, 04:48:43 PM »
I just got a MIKINI mill and need to load it's profile into Mach.   Where do it go?   If it doesn't involve drilling a hole in my computer and dropping it in, I'm lost.

Thanks for any assistance.

General Mach Discussion / Annoying problem.
« on: January 20, 2009, 08:31:21 AM »
This may not actually be a 'Mach' problem, more, a computer problem.  On occasion, when I fire up my computer to tinker with my Taig mill I will have no Z axis control... it's just dead.  The Mach DRO shows movement but I don't think the signal is getting to the machine power supply.  Sometimes, rebooting will bring it back, sometimes it takes several reboots.  Last night I gave up after a half dozen reboots.  The diagnostics appear to check out as does the printer port.  I've even tried wiggling the cable to see if I can get it to respond to no avail.

Any thoughts?

Cheers,

General Mach Discussion / I killed my Mach 3...
« on: December 20, 2008, 03:43:08 PM »
Sitting around bored the other night I decided to 'clean out' my computer of (what I thought was) junk.

When I tried to open Mach to play with my mill I kept getting an application error... the little one that asks you to send a message to Microsoft.  I've gone so far as to download Mach again.  It says it has found the license, etc. and then I reboot... same message... no Mach.  I also copied the Mach3 folder over from my laptop and the same thing...  It opens and operates on the laptop (doesn't run the mill from the laptop per usual reasons).

Do I drive the wooden stake through the hard drive now or after I plug it into a 220v outlet and douse it with salt water?

Any help is much appreciated.  Mind you,  I'm not terribly computer savvy unless you want things randomly erased.

Cheers,
Sweeney
