General Mach Discussion / I'm having trouble referencing home
« on: April 28, 2016, 07:36:27 PM »
I have five axis in total,

for X Y and Z i have the limits and home setup. each axis has a single pin on the parallel port.

Everything is working fine with X Y Z axis, when i say reference home they go to the switch then stop and back off.

Now the problem is with axis A and B, i set the switches up the same way, each has a pin shared with limit and home, yet when I reference home they ignore the switch and crash.

I dont get it, everything is the same I think... And furthermore, in diagnostics, if I press the limit switch for A or B all three yellow lights trigger for Limit+- and home.

Any idea what the problem may be?

General Mach Discussion / Backlash correction not working?
« on: April 19, 2016, 04:58:46 PM »
If I move my x-axis forward three inches then back, it will be short by 0.02"

I entered 0.02 in the backlash setting for x-axis but is seems to make no difference at all what value I put there.

I saved by exiting the program and restarting.

Also, what does "enable backlash" check box mean on that setting page?

Thanks

I'm trying to set up my limit and home switches.

I have installed two limit switches at the upper and lower bounds of my z-axis

They are daisy chained and wired normally on and connected to pin 10.

Under Config/Ports and Pins/Inputs  I have enabled Z++ Z-- Zhome and set them all to pin 10.

When I look at the diagnostics page, all three inputs light up if a hit either of the switches.

Firstly how do i override the limit switch once the spindle hits it?  At this point I have to disable the inputs then reset, then jog off the limit then re enable the inputs.

And Secondly, when I try to reference home the limit switch is triggered and the whole operation stops when the manual clearly says "during referencing limits do not apply".

Am i setting this up correctly?  Can i use the same pin for both Z limits and Z home?

I have a stepper motor that feeds an extrusion via roller on the x-axis.  If i change the units to millimeter and calibrate, the extrusion feeds fine.  "G00 X10" moves 10mm, however, when i change the units to inches and then calibrate the feed is way off.  More specifically, it moves at the velocity I want but the DRO is only going up by hundreds of an inch when its obviously moving faster. So you can see the result moves the part much farther than say 10 inches.

I've tried calculating "Mach3 steps per unit" and I get a similar number to the automatic calibration.  Also, when i change the steps per unit up or down it seems to make the problem worse.  I'm not sure what to do because i need this thing in inch units.

Thanks
