General Mach Discussion / Mill problem?? Having a crazy jitter
« on: March 07, 2017, 11:49:12 PM »
Hey guys take a look at this video. this machines been up and going for years. I can jog all day long without a problem. I just noticed today after trying to cut a programmed piece that my X axis jumps when crossing a specific spot. I doubt is in the ball screw cause i can jog past it fine its only on a coded move. I tried lowering my motor velocity even though i run super conservative and have twice the size motors as anyone with this mill, that didn't help. I have my shuttle at .004 IS is that okay? it's worked for two years now??

Any thoughts? Thanks Zach

General Mach Discussion / Mach 3 turn Screen change went wrong
« on: February 24, 2017, 10:35:07 PM »
Hey guys,
So I was in mach 3 turn and changed my sreen to the blue one. Now under wizards it shows milling. I tried going back to previous factory view and its not under (View-Load Screens-) there is a 1024 file but it brings up mill screen. on bottom right is says Mach3Turn. Still no turn wizards...

Id like to change to a screen that has 3 axis dros. I am lathing on mill and would like to know Y DRO units.

Thanks,Zach

General Mach Discussion / Weird issue with motors going backwards randomly
« on: February 20, 2017, 10:25:08 PM »
Hey guys,
Need a little help.

So super simple coding screws up. Say machine coords are (Z0.0 X1.0) in midi I type (G01 Z-0.5 X-0.02) Z moves correctly but X goes neg but randomly jump back POS. Doesn't seem to be constant. If I press enter again after Z=-0.5 and X=.145 it doesn't move. It thinks it's at X-0.2 for some reason.

Any thoughts?.

I'll try and post up a video tonight

General Mach Discussion / Sieg X2 Random problem
« on: March 05, 2016, 08:07:11 PM »
hey guys so I Have a harbor freight Mini Mill X2. Its a newer one with the better motor controller but today I was just drilling today and popped my fuse. It holds a 5Amp I only had a 3amp in it. After I put a 5 back in it, it turns on fine but the spindle wont turn!! I checked P2(Wiper of POT) is sending signal all the way to Circuit board... What the hell when wrong here?

General Mach Discussion / Clamp squaring
« on: February 29, 2016, 07:12:22 PM »
Hey guys I posted this on are old VB thread but I had no body look at it so maybe its just to outdated.

I was working on this the other night and I got it. It works on machine!!! YAY!! This is used for me to square one of my clamps on my table, I don't have any of my clamps keyed so I have to dial them in straight every time I take them off. But my goal with this is to measure my most positive side then my most negative side and try and get them to zero out but with a probe not a dial indicator. That way, I tell it how wide to test and it'll touch, back off, move over, touch, back off,  retract Z and tell me the values. I can then tap my clamp left or right and just click the yes or no when the "Is fixture is squared?" question pops to run it again and again till I have it zeroed. Lol beats manually moving it left then forward by .0001 increments then zeroing then going to the other side and repeating 5 times. Now I just sit back and smack with a mallet. WooHoo

If anyone can benefit from this feel free to use them! ;D

General Mach Discussion / Mach3 VB Script Help
« on: February 09, 2016, 12:05:50 AM »
Hey guys so I'm wanting to write up my own code for that piezo probe I made. Was wondering if any of you code stuff yourself and could give me a hand.

I'm pretty familiar with arduino coding but I see that Vb script is a bit different. So far what I got is working but I want to do 3 passes when finding a circles center. I would like the first pass to be around F10 then after the machine touches 3 or 4 points at first, I would like the second pass to move around F30 but slow to f4 when a declared distance from touching is passed. Then same with third pass but slow to F1, when say .030" from touching.

Would any of you know how to code that. I don't need you to write the entire code, but just an example of how to make a slow zone in VB script format.

Thanks, Zach

Okay guys here's the first piezo probe I made yesterday. I think its freaking awesome!!!! You say .1mm for that switch,  this is like purely just contact!!! I think it'll work great, what do you guys think?

Damn I forgot to put that in vid, It works touching down as well!

General Mach Discussion / Help Can't get steppers to move!!!
« on: January 24, 2016, 05:05:10 PM »
Hey guys!

So if any of you guys could help I would really appreciate it.

I'm stuck I can't get my motors to turn. I have nema/24s (eBay) with M542 drivers and a 36v 10amp power supply. I'm pretty sure I have mach 3's settings right but I'm not positive. Ive tried both active low and high and get no differance. If I test my Xclk pin on breakout board with my scope I get a perfect 5us square wave to I'm sure I have that right but motors don't move. I have 5v from breakout going to pulse+ Dir+ and Ena+ then clk pin to (-) pulse dir pin to (-) dir. Green light it on the driver. Motor is wired red blue green black. I'm so lost!!! Everything's brand new and I doubt all 3 drivers and all 3 steppers are bad. Motors also move by hand, so you don't think any power is going to them at all. I'm not sure if the scope will read anything out to steppers but I tried grounding and testing driver output to steppers and get nothing.

I do notice on diognostic screen the Ejog- and Ejog+ for all axies don't light when joging with keyboard or tab screen, is it suppose to? Also I'm sure ports and pins are right since I'm getting that output sig.

Any thoughts? Please I'm so lost.
