dspMC/IP Motion Controller / PID Settings for Brushed DC Motors
« on: September 24, 2017, 04:41:53 PM »
I need some guidance with tuneing the PIDS for my Retrofit Project , I can get the tuning good at high speed or low speed but no happy medium .
On X axis my P is 8500 , I is 500 , D is 6500 . Feed For is 2000 . Moves great at 400IPM , but at 20IPM it rings and the drive and motor sing? Ive got 5 Hours in it and only Y axis is good?
This a very large heavy machine with Glentek 4050 Motors and drives . Any advice ?

Mach4 General Discussion / Spindle Speed Feedback and Accuracy
« on: September 17, 2017, 01:59:24 PM »
Just got my other issues resolved ! Now on to the Spindle Speed .   Mach4 3481 and dspMC newest Pluggin.
When M3S1500 is commanded , My true Spindle Speed is 1530ish , I have Encoder feedback to Mach4 that is Dead On at the control screen. The VFD has an RPM Screen that Reads 1530ish.
and I verified the Spindle RPM with a Laser and it is dead on . Analog Control Voltage is 0-10dc . Doesnt Mach4 provide Feedback to control Spindle Speed? What am I doing Wrong

After Upgrading from Mach4 2480 to 3481 and Plugin 2.01.70 . Mach wont stay connected to the dspmc , Error says dspmc not found , then it will hook up for about 5 seconds and show it
in the History Line . It shuttles back and forth so fast you can see it read out.   Mach 2480 and old plugin were solid as a Rock!
I cant figure it out? Is it in Config or my Ethernet hardware?

Just wondering what everyone recommends for Quality Limit and Homing Switches, there will be flood coolant involved . So I Guess an IP67 rating will be required.
I was thinking roller type snap action , that way during a runaway it wouldn't peel them off the machine! going to need atleast 6.

 Hey All
I'm back on my Fadal VMC 6030 , with umbrella style 21 tool changer , 2 speed spindle and Control Panel with 35 Buttons and MPG.
I have motion and Spindle Control , and can do tool changes manually. I would like to use the tool changer and push buttons on the panel .
Would it be easier in terms of programming Lua and more dependable, to use a Click PLC to handle the tool changer , control panel and way lube system?
I'm dumb as a Brick when it comes to programming !!! and would like the machine to be user friendly . As we use it for a wide range of jobs , and need multiple operators.

Mach4 General Discussion / Hall Effect for Spindle Speed Feedback
« on: September 06, 2017, 07:56:53 AM »

Can a Hall Effect be used as Spindle Speed Feedback ? I have a LARGE ! VMC that has high and low range speed through belts, but had a Hall sensor from the OEM .
For Spindle speed feed back. I have Mach4 , everthing works, but spindle has no reference to Mach4 for accurate RPM. I have dspmc from Vital Sytems
