Mach3 under Vista / Origin drifting along the program running
« on: August 04, 2019, 11:20:41 PM »
Hi
we just installed brand new servo motor kit on a old router we would like to  renew. All axis are turning freely by hand all along the axis displacement. The motor is directly driving a screw by the way of a servor motor coupling. These coupling are tight.

We have configured alll Mach3 parameters to reach good accuracy for all axis. The issue we have currently is drifting of  the origin along the program. It is like the axis are loosing some steps. Example. We have a reference for the zero position on the table of the machine. We are doing the zero of the machine at this position before starting the program. We run a small program doing a facing operation. (100 g-code lines). We run this program in the air (without milling material). Returning the machine at origin position (G00 X0Y0) and we  have an offset of the origin around 3 mm in x and y, It is mostly the same in both both a little bit larger in X. The X and Y screws are the same.

Is someone can have any idea what can cause this drifting of the origin?

Thank you for your help.

General Mach Discussion / Touch plate + touch probe connection
« on: January 29, 2019, 10:18:38 PM »
Hi

I already have on my machine a touch probe. I would like to add a touch plate to automatically measure tools. The touch plate needs to generate a probe event.  My question if the probe input is already occupied by the touch probe, where I can connect the touch plate to generate a probe event when I measure the tools

Thank you

General Mach Discussion / Tool change position
« on: January 28, 2019, 08:50:30 AM »
Hi,

I'm using a small router that is running under Mach3. I have a comportment I never understand when I use M6 command to do a tool change. When I do for example M6 T1 the machine goes rapidly in z position (top of the z axis) until it reaches the end of the axis. I have check to tool change position and it is set at (0, 0, 0 ).  I was expecting the machine will go at 0, 0,0 when I do M6 command. How I can fix this strange behavior?

My other option is just to remove the movement to go automatically to tool change position. That means that when M6 command is called just stop the program and stay were the machine is. Is it possible to do that?

Thank you

General Mach Discussion / Slow milling
« on: January 27, 2019, 11:58:36 PM »
Hi,

I'm running Mach3 for a Smitthy Granite that has been converted to CNC. The computer that is running Mach3 is pretty old (Pentium 4) but run correctly. When I run a program the program run pretty slow. It is not the feed rate that is slow but it is like the software take a pause between each move. Example if I do a circle that is defined as two arcs in the gcode, the spindle will stop at the beginning of the first arc take a pause of a second and do quickly the arc. It will take a other pause of a second before doing quickly the second arc.  I'm using a cnc router that also running on mach3 and it is pretty fast. Where this difference is coming from

1 - The controller

2 - The computer

3 - other

Video P*r*o*b*i*n*g / Get Error when starting probing
« on: January 14, 2019, 11:03:52 PM »
Hi,

I'm using Mach3 under windows xp. I have issue when starting probing. In my case my probe is tool 250. I do tool change operation  by doing T250 M6. The tool change mode is activated, I load the probe in the spindle and  continue the operation and finally it confirm tool change completed. I start probing by probing the z height. It starts the operation but nothing move I get the following error : MT Mode Probe Op _MT not mounted. Probe Op Canceled.

Why this error is happening

Mach3 under Vista / Limit switch and home switch
« on: February 20, 2017, 11:23:26 PM »
Hi,

I have difficulty with my x axis home switch (other axis there are working properly). For the x axis when I do a reference (Ref) the carrier move in the home direction but when it hits the home switch it is generating a limit switch error instead of seeing it is as the home switch. It is generating similar error(limit switch triggered)  if I hit the limit switch at the other end of the x axis. I have checked the parallel port configuration and it seems correct. My x axis home switch is connected on pin 13 of the second parallel port. the X++ and X Home are set to 13 and to active low. I have also sometime similar issue with Z axis home switch but after few attempts I have success to do correct homing.

Thank you for your help

General Mach Discussion / Using Mach3 in metric
« on: July 07, 2015, 08:05:13 AM »
Hi,

I just buy a Milling machine using Mach3. The previous user was certainly using this machine in imperial measurements. I would like to use this machine in metric. The isssue I have is this one. If I start the Mach3 and do probing operation immediately it is working and I'm able to do probing. On the other side if I load a g-code program define in metric before probing operation, when I start probing operation I receive a error message like the probe size is larger than the step size. In my understanding is a conversion error and Mach3 use an imperial measurement as a metric measurement. Is someone may confirm my idea and mostly give me some advise how to correct the situation. I would like to use this machine all the time in metric. Is changing unit in Mach3 is enough to make complete transfer from imperial to metric. (I use confirguration of the previous user (imperial setup) )

Thank you
