General Mach Discussion / MM and Inch Motor setup
« on: August 15, 2015, 09:47:41 PM »
So I searched this bit but I am still confused. What I found didn't work.
So I have Chinese CNC they sent instruction that run it on MM, but I want set up a profile in inch's as well.
I know I have to make changes to the Motor Settings.

My Steps per are 320
Velocity is 1500
and Acceleration is 300.

I am not sure which way to times, or divide by.

Thanks for your help.

General Mach Discussion / Unequal Backlash
« on: July 12, 2015, 06:50:12 AM »
SO I have been fine tuning and trying like hell to get the flat spots out of my circles. I got a dial indicator went to set the back lash and found something funny. Before I tear the machine apart and tighten everything I want to ask.

The problem is on the Y axis. If you are travel in Y+ the reverse to Y- the backlash is .05mm. If you are travel in the Y- and reverse to the Y+ the backlash is .13mm.

So maybe this is mechanical but I sure would like a few opinions before I go tearing into this machine.

Thanks
Matt

General Mach Discussion / Jog issue
« on: July 01, 2015, 07:43:23 PM »
I'll do my best to describe this issue I am having.

I have been getting my Chinese mill setup, didn't have to many issues till now. I went setup backlash because I was having issues cutting round circle. Turns out though my Y axis is not jogging correctly. I set the mill up to push the 1" (25mm) dial indicator. I back the mill up then push into the meter to remove any backlash, then I use jog (step) to move 1 mm and mach3 says it moved 1mm but it actually only moves on the Y axis .7mm.

So I went into the "Settings" Tab And did "Set steps per unit" and it does the same thing, mach then resets my motor setting but It still not right. In fact the amount of movement is never consistent, sometimes .7mm other times .69. My meter might be a little flaky but its random enough that I know I have problem. The X axis has no problems, works as expected and all the backlash and everything is taken care of. Its just the Y.

Any pointer or material to review you could suggest I would be real grateful.

Thanks

General Mach Discussion / Mach 3 mill versus profile mill Errors..
« on: June 24, 2015, 05:53:36 PM »
I am new to this so I do not speak CNC well, and was at a loss as to how to search it.\
I have a licensed copy of Mach 3, I also use a profile as the installer said I should. I use heeks 1.1 to make the g code for the models.

When I load my Gcode into the Mill Profile, its all screwed up. When I use the default MachMill profile it loads fine. I have not cut it yet as I have to set my mill up under that profile. I also feel this must have happened to someone and I hate to post for nothing but, anybody got a simple fix or anything aside from what I am doing.

Thanks
Matt

General Mach Discussion / License Question
« on: June 19, 2015, 08:50:33 PM »
This might be silly question but chalk it up as a first question. My shop is not near the house and I want to know if I should bring my computer with mach 3 demo into the house and download the license or can the download be brought out to the computer in the shop. Its a task thats why I am asking.

Thanks
Matt
