General Mach Discussion / Threading - Recommended Version of Mach3?.
« on: March 06, 2015, 02:17:25 PM »
Hello all,

I am currently using a fully registered copy of R3.043.022 and it works very well for most applications but it's giving me fits when it comes to threading. I have been reading posts for a week now and have seen many instances that were fixed by a change in Mach version either up or down from the problem rev. I am looking for the most current version that is known to be solid when it comes to threading.

The problem I am having is a random move to 0.0 on the X axis at the end of the threading pass. I can run the code perfect X number of times and all goes well and perfect threads are cut, then I rewind and hit run and at the end of the first thread pass, when it should be moving away from the part to cut the chamfer, it instead plunges into the part on the X axis while retracting on Z, moving towards X0 Z0. If the problem happens, it happens on the first pass and will repeat each consecutive pass until the code completes. If the first pass completes without problem, the rest of the passes will be fine as well with a good final result.

If it happened every time, I would attribute it to my own stupidity doing something wrong, but for it to work perfect, then fail, then run perfect again (completely at random), I have to attribute it to a software glitch.

Happens whether cutting steel or air
Happens no matter what threads are designed
Happens no matter what RPM
I am currently running off of a PC parallel, but have a smoothstepper on order.

I am hoping that a known good for threading version of Mach3 will help to eliminate that variable at least.

If you are still reading at this point, thank you and sorry for the book!

Ed
