General Mach Discussion / I can't get my CNC set up to Respond.
« on: February 28, 2015, 01:14:33 PM »
 HI ALL!
Can't get my set up to work.
I have Nema 23s, Breakoutboard, and and motor drives.
Running windows 7 using parallel port.
Mach 3

Status: I have mach 3 set up for X axis to push pins 2 and 3.
The parallel port address matches, it's the default.
By using the jog, I test the X axis in both directions, and I get nothing.
When powering on the board, the motor seems to power up by making a jerking type motion.
The green light on the breakout board is on when connected to the parallel port into the back of the computer.

I hope I included all the information that you would suggest, If not I apologize.
Another note, I bought this computer and it seems to contain a virus, it will not let me download anything among other issues. Would this affect the communication between the parallel port.
Also does the parallel port require any installation of drivers? After plugging in the board for the first time, there was no indication from windows that a new item has been installed,
Im a noob to the whole parallel port thing. Do I need to install some kind of driver for the parallel port to work with the board? Or is it plug and play.

 THANK YOU :)!!
