General Mach Discussion / TLO lengths and Z axis readout

I'm working on getting my mill running under mach 3 and am having problems getting the Z axis to read correctly.

I can set my different tool lengths and the mill picks up the lengths and runs the tool down to where it's supposed to be. 

 The problem I'm having is the Z axis readout is displaying the tool length offset, and not the Z depth of the work.

I run machining centers all day at work, and you can set the tool lengths and when the tool comes down into the work you can display the the machine position or the what the programmed Z depth is, not the tool length offset.

Is there a way to change what the DRO reads to the programmed depth of cut instead of the TLO?  I've tried changing this but no luck yet.

Galil / DB 26 pin HD breakout boards for half the cost of ones from Galil

I picked up a used DMC 4080 for my project and was searching for 26 pin HD breakout boards and found these for half the cost of the ones from Galil.

This saves me about $200 on 8 of them.

Thought I'd share my find and save others some cash also.

I picked this up a couple of weeks ago for $2500.  Also bought a VFD from the guy to control the spindle motor.

I'm planning on using a DSMPC controller and Mach3.  A friend of mine is helping me.  I'm the machinist he's the electrical wizard.

We are going to try and get the tool changer working.  Although I'm not counting on that.

General Mach Discussion / Can I set Mach3 to be a readout for K axis

I'm working on retrofitting a Shizouka AN-S mill using Mach3 and a DSMPC controller.  I will eventually have a 4th axis on it. 

I'd like to put a scale on my knee and use Mach 3 as a readout for K with no motion control on that axis.

Is this possible?

dspMC/IP Motion Controller / Manual Pluse Generator compatible with the DSPMC

I see Vital Systems has an MPG they list for the controller.  It pretty expensive.

I also see MPG's on Ebay but not sure if they are compatible with the DSPMC controller. 

Does anyone know what the specs are to be compatible?
