I have a 1/2" rod and I want to to make a 2" long taper from 10mm down to 1mm .SHould I Machine the 1/2" rod  down to the .393" ?  . What angle would I need to use for that? I keep putting 10 as an angle for 10 degrees? Though I am only getting about a 1" taper and  It asks for where to start and End Z and I put Start at 0 and end at 2"  For the X start I put .393" or 10mm and end at .05 or 1mm.. It is not coming out correctly.. Can anyone help me with the correct angle and X and Z values? . I end up only getting a 1" long Taper ?

I have the parabola wizard program stop machining my parts correctly? It was working fine yesterday morning using one of my programmed wizard files and then suddenly stopped machining my part correctly after 2 years. My other wizard programs work/machine my part perfectly, so I know its not an issue with the motors or machine. Does a wizard suddenly stop working correctly for some reason? I have been thinking of uninstalling the wizard and re installing the wizard, but am wondering if anyone else has had this issue and knows how to fix it?

General Mach Discussion / Question on OD Arc 3 In turn wizards
« on: May 22, 2017, 04:17:01 PM »
I am trying to make a few OD Arcs on a .625 " brass round that is 1" long. I am trying to get 4 OD arcs going down the length. Though , when I try to use this wizard, It is not allowing me to put more than 1 arc and I cannot seem how to figure out the parameters as the Z start and Z end are not working? Can anyone help me in regards to how to do this. I want to have the Z start at depth of .525 and then start from the end and have them evenly spaced about .125" apart   .. I know when I use the groove wizard , I can make multiple grooves. I might just do this down the shaft, but I was hoping to have arc spaces ..? Any help is very much appreciated.

I just got my cnc lathe kit on and wanted to try a OD SPHERE wizard. I am having a hard time trying to figure out how to set the PROGRAM/MACHINE/PART X&Z SET ZERO. FOr the PART, I  am toughing my TRIANGLE TIP to the very end of the rod and that is where I set my Z-zero. Then I find the very front corner of my rod where it meets the end and set that as my X-zero.. So X&Z are set at the exact same place.. Is this correct? For the Machine set zero/home, I find the exact middle of the rod on the end face for X&Z and then I go +Z 1" and +X 1" and set that as my machine zero set. For the PROGRAM Zero set, I have no idea how to set that? Can any one please clarify? I have been trying to do this for hour and trying to run a WIZARD for OD SPhere and am not gaining any ground?

If I turn on my computer and use keyboard for normal computer functions like emails, surfing the net, etc.. I have no problem. The problem starts when I open MACH3 and turn on the power to the control box. It asks me to hit the reset button, which I do, but I get the status message: initializing macro called on reset and my computer just stops working. I have to literally reset my computer to get the keyboard to work again. I am not sure why Mach3 triggers my keyboard to stop. Could it be some sort of energy surge when I turn on the control box?
