HiCON Motion Controller / 7766 pendant operation

My 7766 is doing well and has only failed due to operator error. Otherwise it’s awesome.

My question regards pendant operation. The manual indicate that a pendant can be attached at J10. But this 15 pin connector is not so common anymore. Will a USB wired or wireless pendant drive the axis through the USB port to the 7766, or must a pendant be attached to J10 for the 7766 to move the axis properly?

HiCON Motion Controller / Spindle Direction Control, 7766 controller

I believe there may be a hardware problem with my 7766 controller. I have used this controller for a few years. It has performed flawlessly, but I now need it to drive a spindle as well.

Axis-5 has been configured as spindle per the 7766 setup manual. I am able to verify the configuration by measuring the analog output with DVM, and observing the Hicon Status Panel.

 The analog output responds to M3 command, 0-10VDC as expected when speed variable is applied. Likewise, the Hicon Status panel confirm the pulse counts on the axis increase in the positive direction, and the pulses quicken and slows as the speed variable is applied.

So as I apply the M4 command to rotate the spindle counterclockwise, there is no Analog Output present. But as I observe from the Hicon Status panel, pulse counts are identical to that from the M3 command, except in the minus direction.

Upon starting the computer and controller this morning, the Analog Output under the M4 command began working. I cycled the Analog Output several times each between M3 and M4. After a while the Analog Output failed with the M4 command applied. Sometimes you can see the output drive to about 2VDC, then it will drop back to 0VDC. But the analog signal always performs from the M3 command.

Have you seen this before?

Have I overlooked something in the setup?

And if there is a hardware problem, is the board serviceable?

HiCON Motion Controller / debug window log file

I have an Integra 7766 running Mach3 with Teknic Clearpath servos. The Integra 7766 and the servos are running great. I'm trying to resolve a problem with a plugin that I am using in Mach3.

My Hicon debug window is enabled and opens normally as expected when Mach3 loads. Is the content of the debug session saved for retrieval, or is it lost when Mach3 is closed? If it is saved, where?

HiCON Motion Controller / Windows 7 help needed with the Integra 7766 controller

Hi all,

I'm looking for a small amount of technical support to get my Integara 7766 controller running.

I've looked over the instructions in the Ethernet Motion Controller... User Guide. It appears to be easy enough. Either connect the controller with a computer via direct connect LAN cable, or through a router. I've tried cabling the computer to the Integra controller both ways, there is no indication that Windows 7 acknowledges the controller.  Attached only to the Integra controller is the 24V power supply and the LAN cable.

The Hicon XML file is in the plugins folder, but Mach III says the Hicon controller is not found.
