General Mach Discussion / A few questions about running
« on: October 18, 2009, 09:42:46 PM »
Okie dokie. a few questions for the pros out there.
I have a harbor freight mill and lathe that I am converting to cnc.

1. I have a 4x4 cnc router right now that I use vcarve pro on, the question, will I be able to use vcarve with the mill just like the router? in my mind they are basically the same with the exception of accuracy, size and one the bed moved and the other one the head moves. so just change the profile to be for the mill and run it instead of the one for the router?

2. is there a program out there that connects with Mach3 like Vcarve does but for the lathe instead of the router? I have had a hard time switching between programs oer the years and tend to stick with what works best for me, so it would be really nice if there were a program out there easy to use like the vectric line does.

General Mach Discussion / Mach3 version question
« on: February 22, 2009, 09:44:45 PM »
I have a dynacnc table. they say i cant upgrade my mach to a newer version. they say ver 1.90 is as high as will work. what would the reasons be? if i am just sending g-code to it for it to send out, it should still work, shouldn't it? the settings in mach unique to my machine have not changed.

Thanks
Bill

Show"N"Tell ( Your Machines) / Bill's new machine

Thru a strange turn of events I have aquired an older Vy-Tek rebel II laser table, without the electronics. it took a lightning strike and was being sent back to be fixed. well the trucking company dropped the machine and broke the belts. well, after everything i have been given the machine and ned t find belts for it. since everyone here has been so awesome with help I was hoping to find a resource for the belts here. I am gong to rebuild this machine and make it run from Mach3. this loses me some fnctionality, but I wint have 300k in this machine either. here is a pic of the belt. it is 2in wide and 3/16 from valley to valley on the grooves. I will look for some pics of the machine, I do not pick it up for another week.

Thanks

General Mach Discussion / using multipass?
« on: July 21, 2007, 10:44:21 PM »
I have a part I am trying to make. it is a base made from MDF. basically it is 2 rectangles the outer is being cut to a depth of .750 (this is the last cut) and the inner is cut to a depth of .250. my router bit can only eat .500 material (if I wanted that much tool preassure, which i don't) so I tried to use the multipass to cut both lines. my problem is it is trying to make both cuts the .750 now. how do I use the multi pass for both cuts? if that isnt do able how do I run the part and only run the deepest cut with multipass?

Thanks

General Mach Discussion / Mach3 wont run but Mach2 will
« on: July 05, 2007, 10:57:21 PM »
Hello Guys, if this is in the wrong place please feel free to move it. I purchased a home brew router a month ago and saw it work before getting it. the guy who had it was running mach1. he gave me a print out of what I needed to do to get it running in Mach1, but Mach1 is no more I downloaded Both Mach2 and 3 and was able to figure out how to get it working with Mach2 (the directions he gave looked more like mach2 than 3) anyway after watching the videos onsite here I was sure I could set it up. NOPE no workie. I did print screens of both setups from "configure ports and pins" with my Mach2 and Mach3 settings. could someone pleaselook at them and tell me what I did wrong?

since there were so many print screens I posted them in word documents.  Many thanks

After seeing this http://www.artsoftcontrols.com/forum/index.php?topic=2994.0 I have been inspired to do something for my router. so far it is only the cabinet I found at a friends house. he gave it to me and I hope to clean up my mess some. here are a few pics of it pre birth.

well I will go in in the morning sand blast and paint the box, and in the next few days I will paint and move the controls and pc into this box. I just need the connectors that is all I am lacking in parts.

General Mach Discussion / Looking for help?
« on: May 27, 2007, 10:55:23 PM »
if this is in the wrong thread please move it. if it is against policy please delete it.

What I am looking for is someone in SC, basicaly from Charlotte to Agusta Who would help me set up a small hobby router I purchased off of ebay. for Mach3 and give me a little help with 3d design. I work @ www.c3case.com and use Casmate for my design right now (casemate is 2d only) I have been using it for 10+ yrs now. I have little understanding of 3d software, I have used sketchup put I am not profeccient with it I am able to use it though. I am willing to pay for someone to help me with a little first hand 3d modeling for use on my router, and help setting the unit up. I have 10+ yrs experiance in fabrication (mostly acrylic) but most all aspects of the sign industry. I would be willing to offer some of my knowlege if it is needed or wanted. the progams used will be Mach3 and what ever design program you are using (hopefully it wont break my bank :)
my router is small 16x24 table and I would be willing to travel to anywhere between charlotte NC and Agusta GA to get some training.

Thank you for reading
