Show"N"Tell ( Your Machines) / Hypertherm Plasma Interface cable
« on: September 05, 2014, 09:57:53 AM »
Hi, I am installing a HD3070 HiDef Plasma cutter on a Mach3 run, homebuilt plasma table. Can anybody help interpret the I/O of the Machine Interface cable?( see attached scan) I have a good idea of what some of the wires do but it seems that some probably won't be used by Mach3. What is meant by (Dry) behind some of the descriptions? Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks, Brian

General Mach Discussion / Losing Input Pins
« on: June 30, 2014, 08:20:56 PM »

Hi! I have a CM-126-ESS (Ethernet Smooth Stepper attached to a breakout board) that I purchased on Ebay, see attached photo. I have an ohmic tip on my plasma table to probe the top of the plate. I ran a wire from the ESS ground to the table frame, and another wire from an open input to the ohmic tip. This works great except about every 2 hrs. of operation the input pin quits working. I just move the wire to another pin and reassign it in Mach3 and its good to go for a couple more hrs. As far as I know all the inputs are optoisolated, but is there another way to wire ohmic probing? Maybe use a relay? I don't know what else could be doing it. I tried backing up to some of the former pins that had quit a few weeks ago and they still don't work. Any body else using this setup for plasma? Thanks for any input!  Brian

General Mach Discussion / THC Doesn't Move While Cutting
« on: May 07, 2014, 09:05:35 AM »
Hi there! I have a home built plasma table that I run with a Dell All-in-One/Windows 8.1, Mach3, Ethernet Smoothstepper mounted to a CNC4You BoB, and Proma THC. I used to use a USB BoB but I couldn't get THC to work at all and was told that Mach won't allow THC while using USB, so I bought a Smoothstepper. After I got the plugins all working and my drives all calibrated I can cut parts perfectly but Mach3 still doesn't allow THC/Z movement while running a part. It works if I run the test while the machine is idle and I can see all the inputs in the Diag. screen so Mach3 is picking up the signals. Seems like Mach3 is blocking the movement while a code is running. And yes, I tried the "Allow THC Movement When Not In THC Mode" on or off doesn't work. Does anybody out there use a setup like this that works? I'd like to hear from you! Thanks in advance!!!
