General Mach Discussion / Odd behaviour while probing

I have scored some renishaw probes of Ebay, and now have a digitizing
probe and a tool setting probe.
I was running the tool sensing probe and all was working well, then
switched to the digitizing probe to set Z=0 and when i started the z
probe routine the mill started moving Z up in stead of down. I stopped
the routine and tried again with the same results. I Reset Mach3
(software reset) and behavior normalized.
Can anyone explain this behaviour? I can't see how switching from one
probe to the other could affect this, It must be software
related,perhaps in the switch from toolsetter Z probing to digitizer
probe Z probing? It's especially odd given that both probe procedures
require a Z neg move.
