SmoothStepper USB / ESS and poor motor response
« on: May 26, 2015, 03:59:51 PM »
I found the ESS install & configuration instructions for my steppers on  the cncrouterparts.com website and followed it step by step. I  have motor motion, however, the Y axis (with the slaved A motor) and the X axis run hot, slow and rough.  The Z axis runs smooth and quiet. Can anyone help to smooth out these motors? Is my Dell laptop causing the problem in any way? Did I get a bad ESS board? If I connect to my turtle-slow Win XP desktop, the steppers run fine. Thank you.

General Mach Discussion / Mach3 install question
« on: April 02, 2014, 10:54:11 AM »
Downloaded Mach3 demo some time ago to try it out. Got my (licensed) Mach3 disc yesterday and installed. When I open up the program, at the top of the screen it still says "Mach3 Demo". I thought the licensed version would override the demo version. Can anybody explain why it didn't.

General Mach Discussion / Slaving steppers
« on: February 28, 2014, 12:21:11 AM »
Could anyone here explain to me (a CNC router beginner) how to slave 2 steppers on the same axis ("Y") running one stepper reversed? (Thus both moving the gantry in the same direction.) I have 3 Geckodrive NEMA 23 steppers with a G540 control board.
