Galil / Setting Find Index (FI) speed for the Galil plugin?
« on: November 01, 2014, 07:12:50 AM »
Hello,
I have a very high resolution system with 100000 steps/mm (10 nm resolution).

When I try to home the X axis, the it first moves until the home switch is triggered. Since I have activated the "Use index pulse" option, it then searches for the index pulse with the FI command. My problem is that the plugin sends "JGA=-400" and then "FI A", meaning 400 counts per second for the A axis. This is way too slow for me. Unfortunately I cant find where to change this. Can anybody help me here? Thanks-

Galil / Mach3 + Galil doesnt stop motor when home switch trigged
« on: October 17, 2014, 07:35:39 AM »
Hello,

I am using the X- switch as the home switch (I have wired the X- switch to the Home input on the Galil).
I have configured the limit and home switches as active low in the plugin. Port mappings according to the plugin PDF documentation.
When I jog normally, Mach3 stops the motor whenever I hit a limit switch and the limit switch LED lights up in Mach3.
When I try to home X (REF X) however, the home switch and the X- switch both light up and the motor stops. Then nothing, no zeroing, no offsets, nothing. I am also unable to jog unless I hit the Stop button, so I guess the Galil plugin is stuck in the homing routine?

The Galil (using stepper motors) is configured with LDA = 0 and OEA = 0.

I tried it with LDA = 3 (both  limit switches disabled). In this case, when homing the motor just stops forever until it hits a hard stop at which point I pulled the plug on it.

In Mach3-> Ports and Pins, X-, X+ and X Home are not active low or emulated.

Any ideas?

Galil / Galil plugin sends TM 1000 but I need TM 125?
« on: March 27, 2014, 05:30:19 PM »
Hello,
I am using Mach3Turn with Galil. I have to set the servo update rate to 125 microseconds (TM 125 command) to get the servo performance I need. My axes (servo motors) run fine in Galiltools, but they wont work in Mach3 since it sends the TM 1000 command for some reason (I checked with GalilDebug.txt). What is the reason for this and is there a known workaround?

Galil / Error "Galil can't move toward limit"
« on: July 06, 2013, 04:55:05 AM »
Hello,
I have a DMC-4030 connected to Mach3Turn. The Galil A and B axis are servo drives. The C axis is the spindle (also servo drive).
I have configured the Galil plugin (4.5) according to the PDF. Limits and homes are active low in the plugin.

My problem is that X and Z (A and B) can only move in one direction. If I try to move in the other direction, I get the error message "Galil : Cant move toward limit". If I check on the diagnostics page however, the ++ and -- limtis for X and Z are both yellow (not tripped). If I manually trip either limit switch, the yellow light disappears, and I get the erro rmessage "limit switch triggered" in Mach3, so at least they seem to work correctly.

I would be thankful for any help as to why I can only move in one direction.

regards
Pontus
