Newfangled Mill Wizard / Windows 8 Install

I just tried installing NF Wizard on a Windows 8 tablet and it fails. This is version 1.0.9 just downloaded from the web site. It did install on a Win 7 laptop but I want the license to be on the Win 8 tablet. The error message is Error opening file for writing. It has the file location for the install and then click abort to stop, retry to tray again or ignore to skip. Retry just goes in a loop.

Any help would be appreciated.

Can anyone point me towards milling a tapered circular pocket?  I have Alibre CAM and Meshcam and I can get a stepped pocket but have not been able to achieve a smooth side.

General Mach Discussion / Modbus vs Pokey

Hi Guys,

I have recently got back to working with CNC after a couple of years doing other things.  I have used Mach for several years and I am in the process of getting a new Syil X5 mill and want to ad a ATC.  I have been studying the methods to ad additional ports and I am confused as to the pros and cons of Modbus vs pokey.  I have searched for some post regarding this but I haven't found anything that directly compares them.  Is there a clear advantage of one or the other?  Any info would be appreciated.

General Mach Discussion / Mach3 lock up

I have been trying to isolate a problem with mach3 on my system.  I have had mach3 lock up and display the error send to MS message and then mach3 will close, but appears to leave the engine running.  I then shut down my machine and it does not completely shutdown and I have to turn off the power to the system.  Mach2 works fine.  It seems to have something to do with G54, but I have not been able to isolate the problem  What I have narrowed it down to is if I run a program with G54 in it the system will hang on that line.  If the system hangs, it will continue to hang on multiple restarts, but if I use the conversational wizard and do a simple cut circle program and run it then I am able to run the file with no problems.  If I try and run the file first, then Mach3 locks up. Attached is the first few lines and it is the last line that the system locks on.  I tried to attach the file but it is to large.
Any suggestions?

General Mach Discussion / Mach3 Screen Problem

Hi Art
I contacted you about 1 week ago about a problem I was having displaying the jpg bitmaps for Mach3.  I thought I would update you on this.  I reinstalled Windows XP and now the screens are displaying properly. 

Nice to see a new forum outside Yahoo.
