General Mach Discussion / Home Offset Proble
« on: May 22, 2013, 01:48:03 PM »
I have spent days searching the forum for information on a problem I am experiencing.  I have not been able to find an answer.

I use a plate and clip on the end mill for the Z axis home.  After setting up the homing an home offset it works fine for a while.  If Mach3 terminates abnormally (power failure etc.), the ref all home function et the Z axis to a different value from that on the homing/limits screen.  It is acting like there is a value stored somewhere else that is added to the value on the homing/limits screen.

Replacing the XML config file and redoing the Z axis home does not help.  So far the only way to get it working correctly again is to uninstall Mach3. Delete the C:\Mach3 folder, install Mach3 and redo the Z axis home setup.

This is getting to be very frustrating to me.

General Mach Discussion / Y axis moving in the wrong direction
« on: April 25, 2013, 10:31:35 PM »
I am using VcarvePro, Mach3 with CRP4896 profile and Gercko G540.

I set sll azis to 0 in the lower left corner then enter G0X1Y1 on the MDI screen.  X moves in the correct diretion.  Y slams the bumper.  I have the same problem with g-code - the Y moves in the wrong direction.

I have searched the Mach3 help and cannot find any way to reverse the default direction of the Y axis.  Is there a way to handle this in Mach3?

General Mach Discussion / G540, Huangyang VFD and soindle control
« on: April 02, 2013, 02:53:26 PM »
I know this is probably a heavily discussed topic and apologize to those of you who are tired of it.  I have spent days searching here and on the internet for information on how to control a spindle motor from Mach3 via a Gecko G540.  What I have found leads me to believe it can be done without requiring additional electronics.  My problem is the information is not very clear.  I have a few questions for clarification.
First my hardware:
CPU Athlon 64 X2 2.63 ghz
Parallel port.
2.2kw spindle
Huanyang VFD

I am still building the CNC machine (CRP4896) but have tested Mach3 and the G540 and Nema 23 motors.  All seems to work fine (I was worried because I have integrated video).

The first question:
The G40 manual lists 3 pins for VFD output: 7 – VFD Ground, 8 VFD Output and 9 VFD +10V.  The Huanyang Manual lists: DCM (VFD Ground), 10V (VFD +10V) and what I need to verify; VI (VFD Output).  Is VI the correct connection?

The second question is Spindle start and stop.  I don’t see any other pin(s) that reference the VFD.  How is run/stop handled/wired?  Is this handled via the FOR/REV/DCM connection?  If so is the signal available from the G540?

Thanks in advance for any assistance and for your patience.

General Mach Discussion / Configuration Question
« on: March 29, 2013, 03:22:22 PM »
Are there configuration settings for the toolpath display to change the colors?  I am classified as "low vision" and the black background of that display makes it almost impossible to see anything in the display.  I realize there is a way to programs screens but I am not familiar enough with Mach3 yet to be comfortable working with that.
