General Mach Discussion / Purchasing mach 3 Question
« on: March 02, 2008, 01:50:58 AM »
I am wanting fo buy Mach 3 and on the purchasing page, it has Mach3 add ons for Mill for an additional $50.00 I can not find this on the plug ins page. What is this plug in, what does it do and do I need it for the mill? I have been running Mach 3 demo for a little while and I haven't needed the Mach3 add ons for Mill so far... or at least I don't think so.

Can someone explain what Mach3 add ons for Mill is?

Thanks
Bill

General Mach Discussion / Gerber DCS 2500 Cutter
« on: January 10, 2008, 04:20:02 PM »
Hello All,

I need some info about this cutter. The company I work for backed a company financially and the business failed so we purchased the rest of the buisnes that has one of these cutters and the software to run it. The machine is running and works great! The problem is that Gerber wants to charge us $9000.00 (yes, not a typo) because of the software that is non transferable. We stated that we gave the money to the company to purchase the cutter but it was registered in the other business name, yada, yada, yada!

Link To Cutter http://www.gerbertechnology.com/downloads/pdf/html/1view/index.asp?name=DCS2500_E

Any how all I would like to know, can I run this cutter on different software like Mach 3 or something else? Does it have to be Gerber software?

I would love to just tell Gerber to go pound sand!

Thanks

Bill

General Mach Discussion / Odd Behaver
« on: December 29, 2007, 02:20:39 PM »
Hello All,

I can run my machine and another program or Internet at the same time, EXEPT ... Rhino. When I fire up rhino when the machine runs usually to get the next part drawn or G code generated, it will go nuts. It will still follow the paths, generally but the most damage is in the Z axis.

Why is this?

Thanks

General Mach Discussion / Machine Coordinates ????
« on: December 16, 2007, 04:27:36 PM »
hello All,

I am still in the middle of trying to set this thing up with the home and limit switches but I think I need to get the machine coordinates done first!

I have a problem, When I have my all my axis all set to zero in my machine coordinates all three axis are in the middle of their travel, how do I fix this? I cant seem to be able to set the machine coordinates to zero on the limit switches.

Thanks
Bill

Hello All,

Well I am trying to set up my home and Limit switches and I am getting  frustrated to say the least. I have watched the video and it does not run through it completely unless I am brain dead or something of that nature, maybe I am just at my wits end and cant see it.

The Problem.....

I have six switches all in NC and wired in series, all at the end of the three axis. I want to use the X-, Y- and the Z+ as the homing switches. Well I don't know what pins I put them to or if they are supposed to all be high or low active or what. Also when I did the automated setup it put them all at 15. I made the home switches 11 only because the video did, and now I have no clue as to whats what.

I have added a picture of what I have.

Question ...

Can someone please tell me what the pins are supposed to be?

Setup ...

X2 HF Mini Mill
Hobby CNC Pro Board
Keling Technology KL23H286-20-8B Steppers on X,Y,and Z
Mach3

Any Help would be GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!!

Thanks
Bill

General Mach Discussion / Micro-stepping Question
« on: December 13, 2007, 11:03:38 PM »
Hello All,

I was wondering about micro-stepping, I have my motors tuned to full steps and I want to do 1/2 micro-stepping.

Do I just double what I was using on full-stepping?

Thanks
Bill
