General Mach Discussion / Mach 3 v NC Studio
« on: September 07, 2017, 04:35:25 PM »
I just acquired a router with one Z and two spindles.  The router is currently controlled by NC Studio.  My plan was/is to convert it to Mach 3 as we have other machines running Mach, however, upon reading the net I am finding numerous comments suggesting that Mach will not control multiple spindles.   Is that true?  Can I make the switch or should I leave NC in charge?

I wish to control a router spindle from VFD via Mach.  Unfortunately, I do not have a schematic/manual for the BOB.  Nor can I get the seller to provide information beyond that the feature is on the BOB.

I found a dull and corroded terminal pair that were away from the rest.  I guessed at the pin.  I am able to switch the spindle on and measure 2 volts at the terminal.  That's the end of progress.

The terminal seems to have a sub-board section related to just that pair.  There is a pot on that section.  Dialing the pot does not change the voltage.

If I have found the correct terminal then the issue is within Mach.  How do I best configure Mach in order positively identify the terminal and set the voltage range?

General Mach Discussion / Gantry tracking correction
« on: July 23, 2017, 01:45:43 PM »
I have a 4x8 table upon which X is off perpendicular by perhaps 1/8 inch at the end of travel or 48 inches.  Does Mach 3 or any of the Mach's have a software compensation to accommodate this issue?

General Mach Discussion / Home Off Error X Axis
« on: December 31, 2014, 02:44:44 AM »
When homing X with the home-off set to 0.800" the home-off sets to approximately 7.995".  Set at .010" the result is approximately 0.070"   Any ideas why?  Additionally, homing triggers a reset.  The only other axis, A, works fine.  I swapped limit switches with the same result.

General Mach Discussion / Hotkey to JOG A axis
« on: December 24, 2014, 10:03:03 PM »
I am able to jog A-- with a screen button . . . no issues.  However, when I assign a hotkey or keys the jog runs continuously.  That is, when key activated the axis will runaway even when the keys are lifted.  I have tried several keys or combinations. Please explain why this occurs.  Thanks!!

General Mach Discussion / OEM Trigger or Code and how they function.
« on: December 20, 2014, 04:18:22 PM »
Can an OEM code be created or edited?  If I am understanding correctly, the OEM code 1000 is a start cycle.  Thus an external button could be used via inputs pins/ports to trigger the start cycle provided that system hot-key for that trigger was entered as 1000. Am I correct so far???

If yes, then can an OEM code be created to run a macro via OEM triggers?

I am seeking suggestions regarding external control buttons.  That is, an interface that will allow the use of an industrial type button/joystick to trigger Mach hotkeys or macros.  I have located a few posts on the topic, but they seem to be more of how to configure dated systems rather than recommendations on new installs.

Thanks!!!

General Mach Discussion / Scripting help
« on: December 02, 2014, 08:01:55 PM »
I am using script for motion and data acquisition.  I would would like to gather DRO data after a move.  I am looking for a statement that will dwell/pause the script and allow the movement to complete before the DRO data is acquired.

General Mach Discussion / Data Acquisition via Mach
« on: November 25, 2014, 12:15:19 PM »
I would like to capture the machine coordinate DRO data/value and send/store it for later use in Excel.  Any ideas on how this can be done?  The primary function would be to acquire the X DR0 reading upon the closing/opening of a limit switch.  X would be stationary at the time of capture.

General Mach Discussion / Position confirmation or tracking
« on: November 23, 2014, 01:38:27 PM »
I have been successful with Mach and stepper drives.  However, I have a new application where missed steps could go unnoticed and thus have costly results.  The movement is a simple linear X plus and minus. Is there any way to monitor or confirm or alarm position via Mach?  Perhaps an encoder???  I see there is a stepper drive that will alarm missed steps, but it is a bit pricey for just that.

What about a servo system?  If I can make a stepper go, will I have the skill for a servo system?

Can stepper and servo drives by mixed within Mach?
