the F engrave programme will do the engraving job for me....i dont really need anymore as it creates multi line writing

however...i noticed in the SETTINGS it has a IMAGE MODE.....

now all i require is Images that are OUTLINED ONLY...like MOTIFS & Logos etc etc...

can someone tell me how to operate this IMAGE MODE from this F Engrave software...

i have this feeling that all my saved images (which are in JPEG format will need to be converted to DXF Files)

if this is correct....

anyone help me out on how to do this please

LazyCam (Beta) / LAZYCAM HELP PLEASE
« on: October 13, 2012, 07:11:44 AM »
another one of a million questions i will be asking...

ok for example....

lets say ive created a basic JOB layout in something like...PHOTODRAW or PRINTSHOP ....just a TEXT and CLIPART outline and i want to engrave that onto a flat surface material....just engraving....

so how would i go about importing that JOB into Lazycam so as to create a G CODE for it...

ive tried and Lazycam only appears to give a choice of

VDRILL...RASTER...SPIRAL or IMAGE TRACE

not i obviously thought IMAGE TRACE would be the way to go

but it only seems to select certain parts of the JOB...

I know....im missing something...BUT WHAT

Being that im a long time user of GRAVOGRAPH or the americans maybe know iot as NEW HERMES engraving machines....im used to using on aluminuim and other metal material a DIAMOND DRAG TOOL which is not a actual CUTTER that requires motion to cut

so my simple question is

where can i buy these DIAMOND DRAG TOLL BITS to suit the chinese CNC 3040 machine....

thanks again in advance

General Mach Discussion / Help Again with Small piece engraving set up
« on: October 12, 2012, 04:16:40 AM »
its me again....LOL

ok i got this machine operating great...but not completely under my control just yet....

the UNITS and MEASUREMENTS are creating me headaches..but thats for another day

ok picture this if you will

a small TROPHY ENGRAVING PLATE...70mmx17mm....anondised aluminuim...

ok so i place that plate on the cnc bed...thats no problem....

my problem is

CENTERING THE G CODE FILE so it fits exactly within the bounderies of the Trophy Plate

here is a 3 line example...

MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB
    BEST & FAIREST 2012
          TOM JONES

so now,,,how do i tell the cnc machine to engrave this CENTRAL onto the Trophy Plate...

i know now how to jog to a certain position and reset the axis to zero....but i guess i need to know exactly what point the first mark of engraving is to occur so as to be able to set the placement on the trophy plate

hmmmmm am i making any sense here or just going around in circles

either way....can anyone offer some advice

much appreciated

General Mach Discussion / i must be totally stupid and dumb
« on: October 06, 2012, 08:00:45 PM »
for new beginners like me im finding it increasingly difficult to get my head around the LAZY CAM and MACH3 software operations

someone attempted to direct me to video tutorials but they just dont work as videos...they are simply SCREEN SHOTS on the artsoft website..NO VIDEOS at all

surely there is a HUGE market out there for someone to actually create operational videos for the DUMMIES (like me)..

what i keep running into is that every instruction or tutorial that i can find ASSUMES that i am some sort of expert on their level...

i guess my question is

IS THERE ANYWHERE that has a tutorial that has been DUMBED DOWN for absolute BEGINNERS...that covers things like TERMINOLGY explainations etc etc

im at the point when im just going to give up and sell my new machine and stick with engraving from my Garavograph Pantograph machines...

the Lazy Cam manual i have is 123 pages long and it seems to not run in sequence but jump all over the place...CRAZY

while i do appreciate that the majority of guys here on this forum have a more than basic knowledge of CNC operations....but surely somewhere...somehow,,,,someone has come up with a STEP by STEP guide for DUMMIES...if not...then i can safely say there is a HUGE market out there for someone to create these tutorials and in EASILY EXPLAINED ENGLISH...Not Computer Jargon

sorry for the rant....but this is all becoming too much for me

all i want to do is simply ENGRAVE flat material such as Trophy Plates (in multiples) and Plaques as such...im not interested in MILLING...

the cnc chinese 3040 machine i just purchased appears to be great...it responds to jog commands from mach 3,,,,so the machine is fine and so is the software

i just cant co-ordinate it in my head

HELP before i go insane

General Mach Discussion / Im NEW and I need HELP
« on: October 05, 2012, 08:54:01 AM »
h guys...im very new at this mach 3 software and i guess being a girl sort of puts me in a different position than most when attempting to use a cnc machine ...LOL

im hoping that a few of you guys can attempt to help me by dumbing down this mach 3 software for me
as im having so much trouble getting my head around it...

ive watched all the youtube tutorial videos and like always with the tutorial videos they immmediately assume everyone can understand their terminology just because they understand it..

at present i brought a chinese cnc 3040 and ive got the mach 3 software in place and bothe the software and the machine appear to be co-ordinating as i can move the drivers axis with the Jog Mode...

thats about as far as ive got...lOL

i guess i need some tutoring DUMB STYLE...

like here is a question...

how do i set a type of perimeter in the software to have it recognise the table size and or where i may place a piece of material on the table to be engraved...

oh i forget to mention i only brought this machine to do flat surface engraving...not milling

so if someone can help me out with that first question about getting the machine and the software co-ordinated....something like a HOME POINT....then that would be a great help...

guys ...thank you in advance and i sure hope there maybe a few of you guys who are willing to answer question from this crazy girl

regards Belin
