just got a new cnc router and my shuttle express is not working properly.

if i use the keyboard everything moves as expected, but when using the express im getting dual axis movement.

the y has two steppers on it, but does appear configured right in mach.

Mach Screens / New Machine Setup Help (machstdmill)

i have machstdmill and used it on a denford router, ive sold that router but kept the laptop as i wanted to retain my mach3 and machstdmill licenses.

got a new machine and ive been sent a mach3 xml file. when i open the new profile, its just standard mach3 and not machstdmill screen.

how do i change the screen to machstdmill?

General Mach Discussion / Mach wont save setting changes?

im having nothing but problems since I got a new laptop.

I need to be able to change the settings, but when I change the settings mach doesn't save them.

previous laptop died so got a new one, nothing fancy a dell running W10, installed mach and copied profile across - all pretty standard stuff.

previously when exiting mach it would ask do you want to save setting and tool table, it doesn't anymore. when I change the settings in mach or in ESS config and hit save settings. close mach reopen and nothing has saved.

if I make changes to the tool table, hit save they don't save.

help!!!!

General Mach Discussion / Mach3 and ESS issues on new laptop

just purchased myself a brand new dell inspiron laptop, i3 processor, 6gb ram.

my cnc setup is mach3 with ESS.

when running the cnc I keep getting the low data warning and mach stops mid program. am not in the workshop at the moment so cant get a screen print of error.

all I have open on the laptop is mach3, cambam, autocad 2006 and a single internet explorer page. I used to run much more on my old laptop

I never had this issue on my 8 year old laptop, just my brand new one.

please help

probably like most I cant afford one of these expensive wireless tormach or renishaw probes, so I made my own (with the help of a friend)

I purchased one of these

its comes with a long cable which you need to hard wire into you control system to work, it works great but the cable is very annoying. so a friend made a IR sender and receiver that can connect to any control system. I use a pmdx126 and the setup for a probe is dead easy. connect the probe directly to the board and all it does it act as a switch, so mach3 knows when its been triggered or not.

the receiver board just uses a relay as the switch so it can connect to any control board.

heres a video of the setup in action, its a very rough setup just to test proof of concept. next I plan to integrate properly

General Mach Discussion / Spindle CW and CCW

as far as I can tell my machine is wired up correctly for CW and CCW but I cant get it to do it.

no matter if I do an m3 or m4 its always cw.

are there any special setting I need to tweak in mach to get ccw to work?

General Mach Discussion / Probe + PMDX126 + electronics help

so my cnc runs mach3 and it uses the pmdx-126 board.

I have a tormach passive probe, which when hard wired in works perfectly from j15 and gnd on the pmdx.

ive had a very helpful chap made an IR sender and receive for me in an attempt to turn the wired probe into a wireless probe, but were having problems with mach3 and the IR receiver working correctly.

when the probe is hard wired in, all you do is shorty j15 to gnd

we are now switching 5v on and off

are there settings in mach3 I can adjust to get my setup to work?

I want to store all my machining files on dropbox and then load them straight into mach3 from there. but it would seem mach3 doesn't work with dropbox

is there a way to get mach3 to work with dropbox?

General Mach Discussion / Touch Probe and Touch Plate Help?

so just got my tormach passive probe today, so I turned my cheap probe into a touch plate for TLO.

but the question is how to set to probe height when both probe and touch plate are spring loaded?



the tormach probe gives way before the touch plate.

also the length of the probe will never ever change, it will stay in that tool holder for life, is there a way to set the height so I never have to faff around with touching it on the touch plate?
