General Mach Discussion / process for using a different editor

1)  copy/paste the editor executable into it's own folder 

2)  rename "notepad.exe"

3)  copy

4)  delete notepad in the "windows" dirrecory

5) paste your new "notepad.exe"

for some reason if you try to delete notepad and rename another file notepad windows will automatically put another notepad in the windows dirrectory.

i'm sure there are some consequences to this but who cares!  notepad can't handle large files.

LazyCam (Beta) / "start of size" wanted in spiral image

i've been using this feature a lot lately but only i only need to calculate a ring 11 inches on the inside and 12on the outside.  lazycam calculates the whole spiral to the center.

my main gripe is right now i have to delete 80% of the code output and for more detailed engravings i'm running out of memory (2GB).

been getting good results  with smaller tests and i know what the software can do regardles of memory.

General Mach Discussion / will a video card help?

normally i run small files 40k to 300k with no problem.  today i was mesing around with pocketing a fairly complex logo with a .041 endmill in an 8.5x3 inch 1/4 deep area (in wood)and the toolpath resulted in a 10mb file.  mach seemed to choke on it till i turned off toolpaths in the diagnostics window.   i'm running a 3ghz intel with onboard video.  just curious if the real deal video card will keep mach from gagging on my files.
