Can someone tell me why, when I Ref All Home, and the machine homes to the switches, Mach4 doesn't zero the DRO's?

Can someone tell my why my G54 offset doesn't save? I enter a Z value in G54 and exit Mach4 and when I load Mach4, the Z value is 0.

Third party software and hardware support forums. / Linear Encoder HELP

Can anyone help me add a linear encoder to my xy table?  As I research this issue, I know, in theory, how to get the job done, but I could use some advise/suggestions on what encoder to buy.

I am using a modified XY router table to fill a tray of chemical with a grid spacing of .3 inches and a hole size of .22 inches.  My filler is a bank of three nozzles .083 inches, spaced .3 inches apart.  I am using a Mach3 and a VB script to position, activate/deactivate a coolant relay to trigger my filler, and delay before moving to the next position.

This setup works for filling the 600 containers on my tray; however, without feedback, I cannot be sure that the gantry moved!  I have had couplings break or come loose and motor shafts break, so using a rotary encoder on the motor shaft doesn't give me the comfort I would like.

Any help with the electrical specs and hints on how to connect an encoder to Mach3 would be greatly appreciated.

I am still having a problem with M98 and calling an external subroutine.  I have tried:

M98 (SLAVE.TAP) L10

As suggested by a member and it simply gives me "Cannot Load original File" when I try to load the g-code

If I try M98 PSLAVE.TAP L10 I get

Unknown word starting with s in Line number #3

Is it possible to call another g-code file using M98?  If so, how?

General Mach Discussion / Coolant Issue

I have coolant working well in mach2 but cannot seems to get Mach3 to activate my coolant.  I have configured Ports and Pins, Output Signals so that Output #1 is active with port 1 pin 14. On the Spindle tab, I have Flood using output #1.  When I use the diagnostic screen, when I press the flood button I get a output #1 led.  Still nothing at pin 14 at the controller.  Like I said earlier, Mach2 activates coolant on pin 14 without a problem.  Any Ideas?

When using M98, I am coding it as M98 P10 and the machine keeps looping more then 10 times.  Also, is it possible to call an external file  as a sub-routine?

General Mach Discussion / Which version should work?

I am new to Mach software and have purchased a license.  What versions are in production?  What is the best and most stable?  I have tried Mach2 (Windows 2000) and I am having problems with M98/99.  Mach5 loads fine and runs (Windows 2000), but does not seem to talk to the controller.
