General Mach Discussion / Dir pulse length

Can someone tell me how long the Dir pulse or signal is? Step is obviously no problem but when I was looking at Mach 3 I saw that the DIR pulse length can be changed but as I need it to be either on or off to suit my motor control boards a pulse will not work.
Help please.

General Mach Discussion / looking for an old posting

Soon after I joined the other day I was reading through earlier postings, not on any particular topic but to get an idea of what goes on. While looking through I came across one which had two small pictures of breakout board schematics at the bottom which I thought might be usefull so I copied them but iunfortunately did not record who, what, when or where I found it. The only information I have apart from the two pictures is that they both have opto-isolators, power supply (3.5volt or 3 to 5 volt in a wall plug) and the dates on the drawings 2005.09.10. My problem is that apart from not being able to find them again after searching through what seems like 1000s of posts and many hours  my copied pictures are not as clear as I would like. The 'basic' one can just about be worked out as regards component numbers but the other which has motor control (?) on pins 1 and 2 cannot be deciphered.
Any pointers to where I can find the original posting would be gratefully received.

General Mach Discussion / suitability of notebook

Having just joined the forum I have been reading through an assortment of postings on varied subjects and am starting to wonder if my notebook will be OK to run Mach2.
Basic spec from the system display is as follows.
Via Nehemiah 1.2 GHz processor
512 MB ram
intergrated graphics Via/S3G 32 MB
Win XP sp2
There is a normal assortment of domestic software installed including Norton anti this , that and the other security stuff.
Having been reading about problems with mostly Mach3 can anyone give me any guidance as to what sort of problems I might come across if I attempt to use it to control a small tabletop router.
The main reason for purchasing this machine some 6 months ago was because it has a parallel port built in plus being the end of range was at a suitable price to match my pocket  so any help will be greatlfully received and read very carefully.
