General Mach Discussion / mchine is moving in Metric? instead of inches
« on: September 22, 2012, 04:49:58 PM »
Hi. While running mach3 today, instead of it moving in inches, it seams to be moving possible in metric????  I will jog in the width of a 1/2" bit and it will say it moved +13.78 or similar number instead of .5. Any thoughts on what I might have messed up without noticing it?

I am using cut3D to generate the tool path, yesterday I installed a new post processor since the one I had was in mach arc inch and I was sent the mach inch one. Not sure if this would be the problem or what.

Thanks

General Mach Discussion / Z axis plunges when starting?
« on: June 02, 2012, 08:24:58 AM »
I am just getting started in cnc wood working so this may not be explained properly but, When I zero the z axis, then hit cycle start, it will do a 1/2"-5/8" plunge into the work piece first thing. I have rechecked the zero several times and am not seeing what I could be doing wrong.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

General Mach Discussion / Instruction manual download?
« on: April 07, 2012, 08:54:24 AM »
I am trying to learn how to use Mach3 for the first time using a wood router and have NO experience with cnc. Is there a step by step instruction manual I can download? Looking for the very basic things like how to zero the machine to the part. I had someone help me get the part from Cut3D into Mach3, but now we are both stumped. Any help would be appreciated.

I found a screen that showed what the different G codes stand for but it was to fuzzy to make out many of them.

General Mach Discussion / File loaded from Cut3D, now what?
« on: April 03, 2012, 05:33:20 PM »
Ok, I am a newbie. Not really sure what I am doing. I bought a cnc wood router with cut3D and Mach3 loaded on it. I have the file from cut3D loaded and am now stumped on how to proceed with zeroing and such. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Are there tutorials showing these things that I can watch to avoid bugging you for things that I could/should have seen? I might not have found the right ones but I have not seen what I am stumped on.

Thanks

General Mach Discussion / Newbi question
« on: February 22, 2012, 11:10:40 AM »
Hi. I am brand new and getting confused. My brother-in-law who has some machine shop cnc experience (but not with Mach3) is going to help me this wkend, so I could use some help to make sure he is able to help. Here is what I have. I draw the object in Moi, then transfer it to cut3D and then on to Mach3.
When he gets here, he wants me to make sure I have the instructions on how to manually change the settings in Mach3 to make adjustments to the cut path. Any help to a newbi would be appreciated. I will be using this for cutting wood objects.
