General Mach Discussion / # BUTTON
« on: March 31, 2021, 03:00:47 PM »
Hi All
I have just migrated from win xp to a newer computer (but still old) running running the same operating system win xp.
Everything went smoothly.
However when I write a program the # produces \ so I cannot use parameter? programming.
Does anyone know how to correct this?
Many Thanks
Graham

General Mach Discussion / FEED ADJUST MACH 3 LATHE
« on: June 19, 2018, 03:56:35 PM »
Hi ALL
Spec
MACH 3 version .062
TB6560
WIN XP
PARALLEL PORT
Use spindle feed back in sinc mode  ticked
Closed loop spindle control  ticked
Spindle speed av  ticked

Persistent jog mode  ticked
Feed override persist  ticked

Cannot get feed rate to display during a program run or be able to adjust it with the arrows yet the same settings on the mill work OK.
I have tried different settings but have had no luck.
Other than that everything is working even screw cutting!
Any thoughts
Graham

General Mach Discussion / AIRCRAFT PROPELLER
« on: September 17, 2016, 04:42:07 AM »
Hi All
Does anyone know how to program an aircraft propeller?
I can draw it in Sketch up 8 and convert it to code via Mesh cam but cannot generate a curved profile in Sketch up.
I have to do it in sections as I only have 7 inch of traverse.
The prop is 27.375 diam for a BR2 Bentley radial engine.

THANKS
Graham

General Mach Discussion / TOOLPATH
« on: May 07, 2016, 05:31:04 PM »
Hi all
Version 062 on Win 7
When I load the attached program and look at the program limits on the Toolpath display it displays
x-.125 x+.5347
y-.125  y1.2104
If I then set the scale to x-1 for a mirror image and regenerate the toolpath display I get
x-.5437 y+.125
y-.125  y+1.3365
I can understand the x changing sides but why does the y change as I have not altered that y scale?

How do you restart a program that you have had to stop, and come out of, from within a sub program loop.

General Mach Discussion / MESH CAM AND TOOL DIA
« on: May 28, 2015, 09:19:04 AM »
Hi All
Have a registered copy of Mesh Cam and Mach3 version 062
Produced a long G Code program but it wont "read" the tool table and allow for 1/8 ball tool diameter.
I have put all the tool dimensions in mesh cam against a tool number which it puts in the code.
The same diameter is in the Mach 3 tool table against the same tool number.
When I run the program it asks for a tool change and shows the tool number and diameter on the screen display.
However rather cutting the parts to the correct size it machines them 1/8 under size in all directions.

Can anyone help or suggest which setting I have wrong???
Attached is code produced.

General Mach Discussion / OLDEST METAL WORKING M/C AND Mack 3
« on: June 23, 2014, 11:36:59 AM »
Hi all
Just fitted a Huanyang VFD to my m/c and the motor plate said it was made in 1955 so its 59 year old and still going strong.

Next step is to get it all contolled via the Huanyang plug in on this site.
Does anyone know where i can get the CORRECT usb/rs485 (and has got it working) connector in the uk as there is a bewildering variety

General Mach Discussion / FEED RATE QUERY
« on: March 12, 2014, 05:02:42 AM »
Hi All
On my lathe/mill set up I can rotate the top slide through through 90deg. manually so that x and z both cut in the same direction.
If I program
G1 X6 Z3 F.01 it will traverse 9 inchs in the same direction.
What will the actual feed rate be.
