General Mach Discussion / Denford Starturn(5) PC to Mach3
« on: September 29, 2013, 10:25:14 AM »
Hi Guys,

Has anyone got any idea on how to convert this machine using Mach3?

Is it a case of total rebuild of control box and chase the wires back?

Or as simple of finding what wire went where on the multi wire plug connector and connecting to a break out board.

It has a 8 tool turret too and would like to get this going on it too.

It's in very good condition and hope to get it running to train my son on CNC turning.

My CNC milling machine is one I built myself and working very well.

General Mach Discussion / Drilling code
« on: April 25, 2008, 05:03:09 PM »
Hello,

I am an experienced machinist and just want to know can you put in minus R values while using canned cycles for drilling.

So if you are drilling holes on the surface i.e. 'Z' zero you put in the following for example G81 Z-10 R2.(This is metric not inch figures).

This feeds down to Z depth of -10mm from Z zero starting at 2mm above surface.

Now if I had a pocket that was 40mm deep and needed several holes in the bottom face can you put a minus R value so it does not have to feed from the top Z zero surface.

Example G81 Z-43 R-38.

This rapids down to 2mm above surface of pocket base and then feeds from here to drill through base wall at 43mm depth.

I have worked with various verticle and horizontal CNC milling machines and they have this feature.

If this can't be done, I will carry on by programming each drilled position without a canned cycle for drilling.

Thanks

Mel

Hello all,
I have just signed up to Forum and a new user of Mach3.

I used to work on larger machines as a setter/programmer.

Good software

Here's what I have made over the last few weeks.
