General Mach Discussion / Multiple MPG - Can this be done ?
« on: May 14, 2014, 05:23:57 PM »
All,

I have the desire to attach a handwheel with encoders to the "X" , "Y" and "Z" axis of my mill in an attempt to create a "manual type" machine.
I know thats not a hard thing to do physically , but is there a way to do it and enable all axis to allow MPG input without having to select the axis in Mach first ?

It would be a real pain to have to select the an axis to move in Mach then turn an axis handle, stop , then select another axis in Mach then turn the handle etc . etc.

Hope this is explained well enough, any ideas sure would help

Thanks

General Mach Discussion / Cutter Comp Bug ??? , can someone take a look
« on: September 02, 2013, 10:29:05 PM »
Could someone load this sample file and step through it to verify that cutter comp is sometimes being applied during a linear move progressively from the start point
to the end point ?

Set your tool diameter offset to .010" for tool number one then step through and compare the program values to the actual DRO values.

Thanks

Modbus / Modbus MPG - Dangerous Situation - Need Help
« on: August 23, 2013, 07:59:40 PM »
Heres the scenario:

I am using a brain to drive Mach3 via MPG which utilizes the "MPG Count" terminator which works fine.

During operation, the value for the "MPG Count" within the brain increments and decrements as you would expect by using the integer values that are generated
from the modbus device. A problem occurs if the modbus device is disconnected from Mach3 and then reconnected, Mach3 takes off as
soon as the device reconnects without touching anything. I know that as soon as the modbus device is reconnected, the brain is fed a value of "0" to the "MPG Count" which makes
the "MPG Count" also change to "0".This makes Mach3 think that the MPG is being rotated when in fact it hasnt been touched.....really dangerous.

Can anyone offer a solution or any insight to a workaround

My project if completed except for this issue and I've exhausted everything I can think of......thanks all :o

Brains Development / OEM Button 327 causes Mach3 to take off
« on: July 26, 2013, 05:27:14 PM »
When I use Button 327 via brains to turn on MPG jogging through a modbus connection, mach3 just takes off jogging all by itself, any suggestions ?

Brains Development / Pass Through a Value if its NOT Equal to Zero
« on: June 10, 2013, 06:49:45 PM »
Can anybody show me how to pass through a value ONLY when it DOES NOT equal zero.

I cant seem to make that happen....a graphic snapshot would be great.

Thanks

« on: February 08, 2013, 08:14:49 PM »
All,

I just attempted to start the TCP Modbus setup and it wont start, any suggestions ?

Windows Vista - Mach3 Version R3.043.022 ...... everything else is workiing fine.

I just created a buttons for "Part X Offset Touch" and "Part Y Offset Touch" using OEM Codes 139 & 140 respectfully. When I use them it removes 1.000" from the work offset DRO's and adds 1.000" to the Coordinate DRO's but only when "Fixture Coordinates" are being displayed, not "Machine Coordinates". Can someone offer some help, almost seems like there is a global variable set somewhere thats taken into account but I can only speculate.......

Thanks

General Mach Discussion / MPG Modes Acting Strange ?
« on: May 30, 2012, 11:06:37 PM »
I just built an MPG and all seems to work fine except there isnt any difference between STEP/VELOCITY and plain old VELOCITY ONLY modes. I am under the assumption
that STEP/VELOCITY mode is supposed to act like VELOCITY MODE until a certain velocity is reached, then turn into a mode like MULTI-STEP or VELOCITY ONLY depending
on whether you are slowing the axis down or speeding it up.The MPG is interfaced with Mach3 using MODBUS, in case that has an impact on Machs performance. I have also
experimented with the values for the STEP/VELOCITY percentage and it made no difference whatsoever. The axis always act like they are in VELOCITY MODE only, there arent
any definitive STEPS when I would expect to see them, just real slow velocity.

Any suggestions would certainly help me out.....I'm sure there may be others with the same experience.

Thanks

Modbus / Really Strange ModBus and Jogging Behavior
« on: May 23, 2012, 06:20:48 PM »
I have created a brain that interfaces Mach3 through Modbus. Sometimes when I try to STEP jog an axis, the move will not always complete. It seems odd that Mach will initiate the
movement, just like pushing a key on the keyboard, but it wont finish the move. It seems to happen about 30% of the time and I could really use some help.

Brains Development / Whats wrong with this brain ???
« on: April 18, 2012, 07:16:05 PM »
My modbus device is sending a value that the brain can recognize ( which is 40 in this case  - see the picture ) but the brain doesnt continue calculating the value as i would expect.
Since the value of 40 is less than 32767 i would expect to see a value of .004" in the "formula" box as well as the tool dia output.

It seems so simple that I'm probably missing something stupid or i've missed some documentation somewhere, any advise or guidance would really be appreciated.

Thanks

Ivan
