New and finally frustrated. I am sure I am missing something simple.

Here goes I installed the probe that came with my unit:

went to Config  Port and Pins  Input selected auto and it found it 1  13

Next I went into Config Config pugins looking for Probing 3d-digitising-Fenerty-Barker-Version-2.00.046. It wasn't there!

I than checked my Mach3 version number and it was R3.043.022

I was using older version  installed it sometime ago than got sick and never got to set up or use either Mach3 or CNC

So I did what everyone always suggests I update my version to the newest online R3.043.066

Well I didn't realize it but I had to reconfig my Mach3.  Well after getting everything to work as it should . I again reactivated my probe and looked for Probing 3d-digitising-Fenerty-Barker-Version-2.00.046. Still not present.

Still didn't give up I knew I had seen it somewhere so I checked my downstairs computer where I had downloaded and not registered the software and there it was same version as mine had been but with pugin?

I than went into Mach3 folder and Plugins found prog dll application put it on my thumb drive went upstairs and copied it into the plugin file up there

Yes when I went to Config plugins it was there I checked it and it now says Probe right beside Help.

I than go and click on probe a secondary screen comes up under x and y i enter the size of my item(assuming that is what it wants as it has to find center)

I turn off Machine cord and zero x and y axis
I than lower z until it is close to the highest point of material slow jog right down
I go to Diagnostic screen and slowly lower z until the green light comes on under digitization. I do this couple times and zero it just as it makes contact

I than raise tip so probe is not active

my setting in dialog box are:y x axis size of item     3x4 (All inches)
Max grid Incr             tried at 1 default but now .25
Probe depth               .125 deepest part of item
                                         Probe clear                 .05
Probe rate                  60 default don't know what it is?
                                         diam                          0 read doesn't matter
                                        z for stuck probe         1.05

I than hit start , move probe shows active, and than finally yes

Probe moves to center stops say seq not complete. I hit reset and it moves does it again and again never completes

When I try inside diameter absolutely nothing happens

Somebody please help!!

Thank

Henry

General Mach Discussion / Keyboard problems while jogging
« on: October 07, 2013, 11:50:54 AM »
Good day again:

I am now having keyboard issues when jogging using Mach3.

The left right arrows move x axis as I assume they should left and right but the up down arrows in my opinion are not working as they should.
Up arrow moves z axis  upwards towards home and the down key moves the y axis towards the y+.

How do I get the machine to move to y- using the keyboard?

I do not want to use hot-keys as I already assigned those to  another function

Thanks again fro all your help

General Mach Discussion / home postion
« on: October 07, 2013, 01:29:16 AM »
Good day:

I am getting a little confused. It might be because I have read to much and should just have gone with the first article I came across.

Where to you home your milling table?

I homed it with z axis at the top, X axis all the way to the right and the Y axis all the way forward. Is this correct? I have just finished reading an article that says y axis is homed all the way back and another that says x axis all the way to the left.  Help is there a normal accepted method?

Finally on a side note I am trying to work through the Mach videos,(they are great) and was wondering the video shows setting software to mm I am using inches. Is the road runner gcode set for inches or mm as it is huge on the screen compared to my table size. If it does make a diff is there a version of the road runner in  inches or am I doing something wrong?

Thanks in advance for your reply and help (I am sure I'll have many more questions to come lol)

FAQs / converting DWF files to g-code in Mach3
« on: August 20, 2011, 10:12:30 PM »
Good day:

I have read that you can import DWF files directly into Mach3 and convert it to G-Code.
Several sites have said to open File and hit convert but that does not appear in my file directory.

Is there a simple way of doing this ?

Thanks
Henry

FAQs / z home switch
« on: August 08, 2011, 07:47:03 PM »
Good day:

I am new to CNC and Mach3 and am also having issues with the switches.  I have hooked up all my switches and when i ask the machine to home itself the z switch turns system off , it does not back off the switch as do the y and x axis home switches.  I have made sure that the z switch is found as a home switch only and even played with resetting the home zero after backing it of .25".

The funny part is it worked once. When I first set up all my switches and axis were all over the place I pressed  home and all homed nicely. Z than y and finally x. The problem is it has never worked since.

As z is the first axis that homes it stays on off and I have to manually back it off and hit reset. Than it just homes z again etc.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
