PoKeys / Connecting touch probe
« on: April 22, 2016, 03:17:57 PM »
Hi,
I need some help please. How exactly to connect a touch plate for tool probing to Pokeys 57CNC ver.1.1?

i connected a cable to pin 19, opened the " input" dialogue in Mach3 and i think more or less did it. Now i touch the plate to spindle and shows blinking light at diagnostic screen istead constant light. Manual says "Probe input On PoKeys57CNC v1.0, v1.1 and v1.2 external pull-up resistor must be used"

How  do i do that and what resistor i need?

Thanks!

Hi, i need some help connecting the DMC-2183 DC24V coupled with 2 x ICM-20105 in stepper mode.  I posted that at the galil forum but for 2 weeks no answer.

Surely somebody here have done that and could shed some light;

Please some help connecting servos / via step dir mode like steppers/ . I have read extensively the documentation but there are some details i don't understand well as i am not very good with electronics.

What have done so far:
-Sinking Configuration
-For 24V isolated enable, tied +24V of external power supply to AECOM1 at axis D-sub, tied common return to AECOM2.
-Replaced RPAE2 with a 4.7 kΩ resistor pack
- at 15-Pin Male D-sub , have connected also pin2. Amp enable X to enable the external servo amplifiers

Now there are things that i have not clear and need help with:
- at pin 15 PWM/step X and pin 8 Sign/dir X go the positive step and dir signals. But where i connect the other 2 corresponding wires return/negative from drive ? To pin10 Ground or to pin 9 Amp enable common-2 (AECOM2) ???
-at drive manual says it operates at 5v and to add 2kΩ at step and dir inputs when is 24V operated. But we have already the RPAE2 4.7 kΩ resistor pack at the exit signal right? So do i add that additional 2k?

Additional questions
-resistor pack RPAE1 always stays 470Ω, right? We change only RPAE2 depending on voltage, right.?
-do i need to do something else apart from changing the jumpers for step motors

Spindle speed control question
-for spindle 0-10v control via MACH3 i understand i connect to axis H for example. One wire i connect to the pin 14 Motor Command , where i connect second wire - To pin10 Ground or to pin 9 Amp enable common-2 (AECOM2) ?
-i have removed the step jumper on the board, is that right

Thanks in advance!

Hi,
First to express my satisfaction with Mach3 after an year of extensive use. i could not be more happy. Thanks guys!

Now please, take a look at my problem. I have a small cnc and live in Europe. I am making details from plastic and wood and most of the time i am developing ideas which not always convert to money. The price of electricity is very high here. So i could not run all of the time the vacuum cleaner/ connected to flood via Romaxx CNC screen set/ .  I mean it would make a montly difference to me of more than 100euro. But not running it at all as is acceptable with wood, is not so when milling plastic.

What i need is a function-timer, to tell the vacuum cleaner/flood/ to engage at a chosen interval for a chosen time.

If it can be programmable/ time in seconds/  with the possibility to change the intervals at will for different tasks will be best.

Examples:
1. I am milling a 3d part from wood. The total time is 2 hours. I would program it every 5 min to engage for 30 seconds. And so on...

I believe this function will be very helpful to all the owners of small or big cnc which use it for prototyping and willing to save some cash from electricity.  Even those who make money from every job  could benefit.

What do you think?  ;)

Feature Requests / Second LPT pin status Leds
« on: July 05, 2011, 06:56:36 AM »
Hi,
playing around with my additional encoder board i thought that it would be good idea for Mach3 to have Led panel also for the 2nd port to be easy to monitor the state of the pins.
Sb. made it already or maybe somehow from the original one can be made second, monitoring the second  LPT port?

Hi,
total noob, so forgive me please my ignorance. I am still waiting for my new VFD to arrive and was reading the manual http://www.mototecnica.eu/ebay/Inverter/Manual%20eng%20VFNC3.PDF these days.

The VFD has 4 input options and apart of this Modbus:
0: Voltage signal input (0 - 10 V)
1: Current signal input (4 - 20 mA)
2: Logic input
3: Voltage signal input (0 - 5 V)

i am interested in option 2 -Logic Input and the possibility to interface my BOB directly without buying additional stuff like PWM and having to learn Modbus

the logical input is described at section 6.5.2 at the manual http://www.mototecnica.eu/ebay/Inverter/Manual%20eng%20VFNC3.PDF
but for ease i made some snapshots of the pages :

so from what i understand the VFD accepts frequency pulses and can be programmed to distinguish frequencies and lengths of the pulses and this pulses can transmit the basic commands, but i am up till here
and from my ignorance i have the following questions:
1. Is this the Step and Dir ? and if so can Mach 3 be interfaced directly using its Step and Dir capability?
2. Can the VFD be adjusted so that PWM from mach3 drives it, i mean only frequencies without reading directional and additional signals , this by adjusting the frequency response at the VFD

This all comes because this inverter is pretty capable and cheap for all the functions it offers/150eur here in EU/, so if this can be done and shared, maybe it can become the ultimate Mach3 inverter  ;D

Feature Requests / Integrated interactive help
« on: June 12, 2011, 09:37:57 AM »
Hi, i am new to Mach3 and even i read the manuals i have many things unclear, may be simple for others but not for the beginner like me.
So:
1. A interactive help window will be nice, like Google sketchup, Corel Draw and other programs have. When you roll over a button a short explanation with a interactive demonstration occurs in the window.
2. Even a basic tooltip when you roll over sth in Mach3 with short explanation  and a link to the help file would be very nice

I know the Mach 3 is a great value but integrating the help would be even better for all the beginners, which are more and more every day.

What do you think? ???
