General Mach Discussion / Denford starturn
« on: February 09, 2011, 05:38:45 AM »
I have a starturn running on mach3 no problem at all but it has a 8 tool rotary tool post at the monent this is just set to the coolant button.
I was told the man to speek to is Hood hope thats ok Hood.
I was going to send a pm but if I get any advice I thought it would be better to be in the forum for others.
Just a general at the moment but if anyone can shed light on getting it to work with a code call to change that would be great.

General Mach Discussion / looking at 4th axis
« on: February 02, 2011, 07:50:45 PM »
I have found a 4th axis online and for use with mach 3 every thing looks good to me but hell most of you on here have forgot more than I will ever have known.
So the main question is is this any good http://www.youtube.com/user/Simpsons36#p/u/4/glYDe94hxb0 this is a ling to Simpson36 on you tube he has some nice stuff up there and this 4th axix will work out around £1000 with all the mods. The chap steve seem very nice and I have no reason at al to misstrust him as is commom on the net and sorry strvr if you are on here as most likly you will be using mach 3lol.

Please give me your honest answer to this as I may look at getting rid of the cnc lathe I have now and move onto this all in one set up for what I do or more what I want to expand into further small model tank barrels and down to small 1/76 scale gun for the model making peeps out there up to 1/16 main barrels for the bigger toys of the rich among us.

Look forward to many thoughts on this from you lot so please say what you think.

General Mach Discussion / 3d Keyfobs
« on: December 10, 2010, 10:11:03 AM »
I am very new to this and have only had my machines a short while but I have been asked if I can make keyfobs with pictures in 3d on them  kids pets etc.
I am not sure where or how to start. I have solidworks and solid cam and a denford starmill. the fobs only want to be about 50x40mm and a base of around2-3mm.
Is it possible to do this and where would one start with this project would I need other software?

Please help if you can as I have a few people who would like stuff doing for christmas and the wife keeps dropping me in it by saying of course he can lol.
