General Mach Discussion / Cutting in the wrong place
« on: January 11, 2011, 03:54:17 PM »
Hello,

Please forgive my daft questions.

My machine seems to be running well after much tweaking, however, I'm having a problem with the cut starting in the wrong place . I'm using Vetric Cut2d for engraving and Mach3 seems to be placing the lettering top and right of the material, and proceeds to cut in that position although I have ensured that it is central in Cut2d.

Can anyone suggest what might be happening?

Many thanks....

Neil.

Hi there,

Can any one answer a couple of Q's for me please.

1, is there any way to back up all the settings on Mach 3 so I can restore if I have a PC problem, I've made so many changes to get it all running correctly I'm worried I might lose it all.

2 Regarding the homing switches, is there a way to 'back off' further than the standard amount as I get a limit switch error when I reference home and need to take the switch off to reset it as it doesn't quite get past it.

and one last question, is 'home' top back and left?

Many thanks,

Neil.

General Mach Discussion / Steps are too big
« on: October 03, 2010, 11:11:57 AM »
Hello

I'm having some trouble setting up my machine. I bought a ZenToolworks 7/7 diy kit a while ago and it worked flawlessly. I've changed my PC, still XP OS, but now having no end of trouble.

I've got it working, to  degree, except I can't post to Mach 3 from Cut2d, so I've given up on that, I just go to load the gcode manually.

However, it seems like the machine is working in inches(possibly)  when I've set the native units to MM's. It's taking way too big a step per command. I've uninstalled and reinstalled I don't know how many times and gone through masses of settings and nothing has helped.

I've tried changing the step pulses and that hasn't worked either.

Can anyone make any suggestions before I go loopy?

Regards.

General Mach Discussion / Hello - and Help please....Mach 3 and Vetric
« on: September 30, 2010, 01:50:56 PM »
Hi

I bought a DIY CNC machine about 6 months ago and got it all working great, with a full licence of Mach 3 and Vetric Cut2d.

Since then, I changed my pc to  slightly newer one, also running XP. However, although both softwares are installed and I can control the machine fine with Mach 3 and also open Vcarve Cut 2d with Mach 3, I get an error 'Failed to find data on installed version of Mach' and 'failed to find running version of Mach'.

I posted in the Vetric forum and some one gave me some suggestions of what might be wrong, I tried that and it still happens. I've asked for further assistance but it has all gone quiet. I'm not too sure where to go now.

This is the link to what I tried in the Vetric forum -- http://www.vectric.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=36&t=9368

I wonder if any one here has got any ideas? I've done some browsing and there seems little info on it, so it doesn't seem too common, only with Win7 there are a few instances, but I am running XP.

Many thanks
