General Mach Discussion / So long Gentlemen
« on: February 29, 2016, 08:38:43 PM »
Fellows it is Time that I left the Mach3 forum.  I have spent too much time here and have grown too close to the process. It is time to let it go.

Moderators PLEASE delete this account. I could not find a way to do it.

So Long and may your lives be filled with CHIPS , (;-) TP

So what would yall think about a new Ethernet controller than can do Rigid tapping(mill)  AND encoder threading(Turn) in MACH3 ???

AND it would not BREAK teh bank(;-)

Would it be something you would want ???

And yes it appears it CAN be done in Mach3.

Mach4 General Discussion / SetVN
« on: July 23, 2015, 11:14:02 PM »
Does anyone know the proper syntx for SetVN ? I have just thrown rocks at it is see if it worked like FANUC

Setvn500 [TestVar]     Defines #500 as TestVar

#500 =5                   Set the var value
#testvar = 5              sets the var value

Questions ???

Normal only the common vars 500-549 can be used ??

IS there a look up table for #VAR - VarName  relationship ????

Will the VarName be commented on the call line for example

SetVN500 [Testvar]

#testvar = 5

When I call it as

G1 X#500        (TestVar)  <<------   will it automatically assign the Comment to it

G1 X#Testvar        ( 500 )    <<----- ?

General Mach Discussion / IF you wanted to UPGRADE to MACH4 ??
« on: July 20, 2015, 08:21:53 PM »
What would you consider a stumbling block to UPGRADING to the  current Version of Mach4 ??   Something?? Nothing??

Just a thought, (;-) TP

I was part of a group discussion the other day about WHAT is needed IF one was to build a new DIY controller for "TODAY'S" hobby users.

It was VERY surprising as  to the feature needed not needed  list.  This was from a group that uses CNC every day as a living and a hobby. A mixed list of users.

As a conversation topic WHAT would your needs be and WHAT could you do WITHOUT as far as useable features. NOW be honest with yourself. I am not talking about wannabe features  just real life I use it everyday features.

General Mach Discussion / Tool Wear Modual
« on: May 30, 2015, 04:25:48 PM »
I am working on a new tool wear tracking modual for Mach3 is there anything specific yous guys want/need in respect to that type of function ? It will use a modified tool table to hold all the values and have a visual mode when you select a tool it shows a picture of a tool representing the selected tool.  Each time a tool is selected it gives you a view of the tool AND the wear values such as Remaining tool life %.

General Mach Discussion / WHAT IF ?
« on: May 14, 2015, 07:59:00 PM »
What if all the stuff that has been invented ,created for Mach3 over the years was rolled into one master version of Mach3.

What would it be like ???

I was pondering this after coming to the conclusion that I could NOT think of anything new to work on for mach3. My list is empty.

Has Mach3 reached End of Life as to further development  by the masses ??

Just a thought, (;-) TP
