General Mach Discussion / axis changes from + to - by itself
« on: April 24, 2011, 10:01:29 AM »
hello everyone,i have a problem that occurs sometimes but ruins all...   it happened that i wanted to stop milling process and i did it with "feed hold" button...but after i started milling again with "cycle start" it happened that both x axis and y axis switched + and - ,so milling  continued in opposite, wrong direction.         :-\   this problem occurred also when i would move my tool with jogging, for example i push "up" button but it goes down, and after few tries it goes up as it should be...  whats happening??

General Mach Discussion / puting decimal numbers
« on: April 12, 2011, 01:13:28 PM »
hello everyone, :-\   I  would like to ask why i cant put digital numbers in any field, for example i want to put 0.1 in A axis rotation diameter for radius correct.  I menage to put only whole numbers  like 1,2,3...    Thank you :-X

hello,i have stepper motor on my 4th axis(2 deg/per step, written on it)and its always moving in steps, can it be set to move continuously?
Motor is directly connected to  chuck,no transmission.
..Also,it makes 4 steps to make 1 degree,is this  minimal movement for this motor or it can be set to make smaller steps for better detail?

General Mach Discussion / problem with z axis
« on: September 15, 2010, 05:14:42 PM »
hi!..or better....HELP!..  I have a problem with z axis when its running at higher feed than 2 ipm! It happens  that every time that z axis should finish moving up or down, the  x or y movement starts before z finished its work,so result is that  edges r cut off when z was going up,or edge is not 90 degrees but rounded when z was suppose to go down and  stop so x or y would continue...

i made a 3D model, just a simple wall,0.1 inch high and 0.1 inch thick, and i made g-code for that in artcam..so the tool coming from left approached the wall, stopped, went up,but before it reached 0.1inch in z ,the tool started to move horizontal so it cut the edge(made it rounded)..than tool continued as it should over the wall and it stopped as it should, than it started to move down 0.1inch but again before it reached the end,the tool started to move to right(z still doing its job-so it produced curved edge again).this was happening at feed rate-8ipm and plunge rate-4ipm.it dosnt happen at 2ipm.

Than i rewrote those 5 moves of g-code and i loaded them using TEACH mode in mach3,adding 4ipm feed for horizontal and 4ipm for vertical moves as in original g-code. Now for my supp there was no rounded edges ,the z axis would finish its job  before x axis started to spin.
anyone have idea whats going on?what can i do to achieve sharp edges  at high feeds ?why its different result when i make  g-code and load it using teach mode?

General Mach Discussion / switching X and Y axis
« on: July 19, 2010, 04:49:22 AM »
hello, i have my 4th axis aligned with Y that makes me problems to make g-code...so i want to swich  my X axis to become y and Y to become x axis so  my 4th axis would become aligned with x-axis... my 4th axis  is heavy so i dont want to  move it to current  x axis but i rather fix it  outside machine  and let spindle move in current y direction.. so i wonder, can i do this in mach3? where i can switch those 2 axis? beginer here...thank you

Hello, i am trying to  get a 4th axis toolpath in Mach3. i made a ring in ArtCAM,i made g-code by using few postprocessors(for mach2,mach3mm,model master4th axis  rotary...) but none of them made a rotary toolpath in mach...the g-code contains A axis but on toolpath screen its flat or its not anything like it should look....   anyone can help?thank You???

General Mach Discussion / fourth axis problem
« on: April 06, 2010, 08:32:49 PM »
hi everyone,i have a problem with my fourth axis.....when i write in MDI to rotate it  90 degrees,  it makes 90degrees in mach but in practice it makes  a move of  ..like 98 degrees.......        where can i set that in mach3,so taht 360 will make it do exactly  the full circle.. ?       thanks               Miroslav

General Mach Discussion / constantly losing "zero"
« on: March 15, 2010, 01:16:52 PM »
hello, i have a problem ,my tool constantly loses "zero"....if i want to cut anything, with paralel mill,or 3d  climb or any way,my tool is going constantly too much "south"..let say i wanna cut a square with paralel milling along y..he will cut rhomboid..or any object that he is cuting ,with every new step the "zero" moves   constantly more to 1 same side...so if i cut rectangle inside i get stairway on 1 side and tool cuts with whole lenght on other side.....can any1 help?                                                                              Miro

General Mach Discussion / leaving toolpath and crashing into material
« on: March 15, 2010, 12:56:02 PM »
hello everyone, i use mach3 on my small cnc,and it happened to me yesterday that my tool sudenly left toolpath and crashed into material....it was performing a paralel finnish milling along y  making a 1x1 inch piece (minus part of a stamping die ) in plexy and going back and forth, bit down  and again back forth along y,and in 1 line  while taking just a fin layer on the top and coming to "end of stock" he ,insted of turning back like 100 times before, the tool just continued  to go straight and after half of inch went deep into material and stoped,"zero" of corse changed to somwhere on that sot where it "landed" .i dont know if zero changed b4 or after.but i didnt notice mistake in g-code cos i took tool out and put it back and this time he did corect his path.. anyone  experienced this?                                                                      Miro
