General Mach Discussion / What can this be?
« on: March 11, 2010, 07:47:42 AM »
Put mach onto a new computer at 7.oo this morning and still dont have it running properly now 12.42  :o

I have set it up like the manual says and like i have doen it several times before.  The problem i am having is that it all moves fine but when the z axis moves up and then moves the y axis to go to a differant place it moves way too fast and stalls the motors so then when the z drops down again it is in the wrong place.  This happens with the x axis aswel. It isnt the usual sound when the motors stall out its a much higher pitch sound as if the motor is moving faster than normal when they stall.

When jogging the machine at 800 units they all move fine so know its not the machine,  so it must be some setting in mach that is messing it up.

Any help???

General Mach Discussion / Theseany good?!
« on: March 08, 2010, 04:28:27 AM »
Does anybody know if these are any good;

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=250487279366&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT

Seems a good price for anti backlash nuts and rod.  I am attempting a new build of 900 x 1200mm to use in my company as i have quickly outgrown the one i bought about 2 months ago.

So anybody used this guy before, he also sells supported guide rails with pillow blocks for a good price too.

General Mach Discussion / Why does this have to happen....
« on: February 18, 2010, 07:37:31 AM »
For some odd reason lazycam wont load the full g-code into mach, it will load something like 2800 lines and then nothing else.  I have spent all morning trying to fix it and look for similar problems on the internet.
I have the licensed version, at the moment it has loaded 2450 g-code out of about 10,000.  But if i load a g-code from another programme it will work fine.

Any ideas....

FAQs / Advise on cutting aluminium composite...
« on: January 13, 2010, 02:59:11 PM »
Hello all,  i'm fairly new to cnc machining,  i have only cut mdf and foamex board so far.  I need some advise on cutting aluminium composite.  Its only 2mm thick, with acrylic inside and aluminium plate on either side.  what is the best blade to use for this.  at the moment i am using a 2.something mm carbide blade, which is meant to be able to engrave brass and ali.  Would this do the job on a low speed cut?? with 2 passes or so??
Also how about 5mm acrylic,  i know this blade will cut it but will it burn it, as at the moment i can't seem to slow the router down :o  as it is a built in jobby and i cant seem to control it so its all or nothing as far as the motor is concerned.

Thanks in advance.

P.S anybody know where to buy the ali and acrylic from?  Amari is the cheapest place so far!
