Galil / Plugin problems and licence for mach3
« on: March 13, 2018, 11:41:22 AM »
Hi
I have used fully licenced mach3 and Galil for a number of years, Great. With ethernet.
I now have some real problems and need some help.
Previously I have used 21xx ethernet controlers and now would like to use some 17xx and 18xx controlers. ISA and PCI.

I have to use a diferent computer but I belive the licence for the galil plugin with mach3 is for me and not tied to one PC, am I mistaken with that??

If I am wrong about the licence where do I get a new one, the only one I can find is for mach4 ??

The program runs fine and the controllers show up as connected but as soon as I try to move an axis it freezes with error message "device driver could not be opened, or a read write error occured"
This is version 4.5 of the plugin.  Version 4.6 wont run at all and can not be configured in plugin setup. Causes mach to close down instantly.

Both the 17xx and 18xx work fine with galil wsdk and smart term.

Thanks for any help
John

Galil / Joystick connection, Idiots guide needed please. 2160 and 1900icm
« on: February 08, 2014, 07:20:50 AM »
Hi all
I want to connect my joystick, +-10v, to the system but I seem to have a mental block on getting it done!!
it is currently connected direct to the servo drives via isolating relays so that it does not interfere when the PC.. and Mach have control. Works fine as a pure manual system but it causes Galil/mach to error because the motors can run without without signals from the controller, ie creates a position error as far as the controller can see.

I know I need to use the 8 input pins and have some sort of a code written but I am stuck.

Can you give me a step by step guide to getting it working

Thanks John

General Mach Discussion / Homing does not see home switches.CRASH!!!!
« on: October 22, 2012, 12:28:12 PM »
Hi All

I have a lathe set up running under the normal mill screen

I have X & Z + & - limits and home sensors on X & Z

When I press home off it goes and ignores the home switches and crashes into the end of travel!!

When I look at the diagnostic page all appears fine and the switches all show up activating when they should ??

It used to work fine I don't know of anything I have done that could have caused this serious problem

I really need some help on this if you can

Thanks John

Hi all and a happy new year

Can these drives be used with Mach
I know I would need to change the step direction to anolog +/- 10v  , perhaps some tips on that?

I am new to servo drive side of things

Hi all

I have some basic questions about using encoders with SS

I have two encoders with a,b,i , 5v,& ground wires. Single ended I believe

I believe I connect to port 3 pins 1,2 3 and 5v, ground

set up Mach input encoders to port 3  a pin 1,  b pin 2

How do i see any result of the encoder IE a position box

How do I tell mach the resolution of the encoders

can I set a pause if the encoder count and Mach's position differ by X

Thanks for any help

General Mach Discussion / Unstable stepper pulse
« on: November 28, 2009, 12:25:43 PM »
Hi All
I hope someone can help with this problem, I am at my wits end with it.

I am bench testing my drives and motors.

When I run / Jog the motor it's as if there is a pulse or more missing. The motor has a sort of small hick-up, this must mean it would loose a step or more when on the machine.
I have tried the diagnostics which say timing / system excellent in all frequencies.
Different motor and drive combos all have the same problem.
I have tried the different settings in motor tuning and pulse timing to no effect.

I have tried running "EMC2" on a Linux boot up and everything appears perfect and smooth. So there shouldn't be any drive / motor issues.

Please Help
John
